Alvin Quentin Fowler of Mabelvale. Born December 2, 1920, in Cleburne County, third son of Alvin Quentin Fowler, Sr. and Velma Karber Fowler. Died Thursday, Sept. 24. Predeceased by his parents Alvin and Velma Fowler, brothers James Adam “Floyd� Fowler and Vernon Fowler, and his first wife Jean Rickman Fowler. Survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ellis Fowler, his brothers, Winfred Fowler and Harry Fowler, and his sister Barbara Gentry; his daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Bill Steward, his grandchildren, Randy and Cathy Steward; Laura Steward and Luis Bettencourt, and John and Becky Steward; his great grandchildren, Jack Steward, Stella Heon, Claire Steward, and Violet Steward; his stepchildren, David Ellis, and Judy and Orin Boody, his step grandchildren, Matt Ellis, Brett Ellis, Karl and Eden Boody, and Amy and Mack Edwards, and his seven step great grandchildren. Alvin was a retired machinist with the Aluminum Company of America, a member of the Lifeline Missionary Baptist Church, a member of AARP Chapter 1239, and a veteran of World War II, serving in the 250th Army Artillery in Europe. In many ways, he saved the best for last, as he and Elizabeth shared their beautiful life together for fifteen years, he discovered the fellowship of Lifeline Baptist Church, and they reveled in the attention of their family. Graveside service will be at 11:30 Monday, September 28, 2009 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills on Landers Road. Honorary pallbearers are the Men’s Sunday School Class at Lifeline. Memorials to the Nursing Scholarship Fund, Baptist Health Foundation, 9601 Interstate 630, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205-7299, Lifeline Baptist Church, or any other joyful cause.
