Alyssa Groetzinger Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 26, 2025.
Alyssa Noelle Groetzinger, 43, passed away on August 18, 2025, in Auburn, Maine. Born on December 14, 1981, in Portland, Maine, Alyssa brought light and laughter to all who knew her.

Alyssa lived life to the fullest with a vibrant spirit and an open heart. Known affectionately by many as "Alyssa the Pissa," she had a gift for humor and a knack for making others smile. Whether cracking a joke or offering a warm embrace, Alyssa's presence was one of joy and comfort. She was sweet yet fiercely protective of those she loved-qualities that made her more than just a friend to many. To countless people in her life, she was like a sister or an auntie, always showing up with love and unwavering support.

Her passion for helping others shone through her career as a certified Direct Support Professional. For more than a decade at Creative Works Systems, she was deeply dedicated to her clients and took great pride in supporting them, especially through programs such as the Special Olympics. She truly loved her job, and her clients often spoke about how she made a positive impact on their lives.

Alyssa cherished time spent outdoors, especially camping trips that allowed her to create lasting memories with family and friends. She never missed a birthday or an opportunity to celebrate the people she held dear. Her thoughtfulness and enthusiasm made those around her feel special and loved.

She is lovingly remembered by her father, Robert Groetzinger, and stepmother, Cindy Groetzinger; her brothers Blaine Groetzinger, Jordan Edwards, and Justin Groetzinger; sister-in-law Shelby Groetzinger; nieces and nephews Naeva, Asher, and Ellie; as well as a large, extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Alyssa was predeceased by her mother, Suzanne Groetzinger; her maternal grandparents, Lawrence Sokol Jr. and Johanna Sokol; and her paternal grandparents, Colonel Phillip Groetzinger and Joan Groetzinger.

A celebration of Alyssa's life will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Stonehedge Events & Camping in Grey, Maine, at 4 p.m., with an informal service beginning at 6 p.m.

May Alyssa's memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire laughter, love, and kindness in the lives she touched.
