Amanda MASSEL Obituary
November 27, 1924 – June 15, 2016
It is with heart breaking sadness that our family announces Amanda's passing following her struggle with cancer. Amanda, the second of eight children, passed away peacefully at 91 years of age in the City of Edmonton on June 15, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband Clifford in 2009 as well as by six of her siblings. She was deeply loved by all of her children, son Gerry (James), daughter Shurli, son Barry (Audrey) and son Brent (Debbi) and their children Brent Jr., Steven (Allison) and Chelsea, and great-grandchildren Christopher, Dylan, Elizabeth, Dayton and Kadyn. She is also survived by one brother Edmond (Vi) Perry and her sister Marielle Gilbert as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Westlawn Funeral Home, 16310 Stony Plain Road on June 25, 2016 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200-325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 2P5.
Special thanks from family members to the staff and residents of the Riverbend Retirement Lodge for making her stay there so memorable, and to the Doctors, Nurses and Social Worker at St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital, Palliative Care Unit for meeting her compassionate care requirements.
Amanda will be interred at the Prairie Souls Cemetery in Legal, Alberta in a private ceremony at a date yet to be determined.

Although filled with saddness at your leaving us, many thoughts and pictures come to mind. Like the time that Barry wanted to get you a new chair. You kept deflecting his repeated atempts until you telephoned me and asked me to help convince him not to purchase one. What you said was that you liked that old chair and got some of your best sleeps sitting in it. In fact you said when that chair goes, you go. After that Barry stopped asking but included in our Christmas card that year was a picture of a new chair. We can hear you still opening that card saying "for goodness sake". Love you huge and miss you even more. xoxoxox
