Ambrose Anthofer, aged 94, passed away on August 10, 2025 at the Madrid Home Nursing Facility in Madrid, Iowa. Ambrose was born in Roselle, Iowa on July 9, 1931 to parents Henry H. Anthofer and Mary (Kirsch) Anthofer. He attended school in Roselle. He later obtained his GED through Roosevelt High School in 1949. He served in the US Army from 1954-1956 as a truck driver in Germany. On his return, Ambrose moved to Des Moines to attend Capital City Commercial College and then was employed by Armstrong Rubber. Later he became certified and worked as a Boiler Engineer for Des Moines Public schools for over 15 years.

Ambrose was married to June Wurr on October 25, 1958. They settled in Granger, Iowa shortly after their marriage. Together they raised and are survived by 4 children, Wayne (Cindy Kelley) of Denver, Colorado, Lisa (John Ross) of Merriam, Kansas, John (James Coffman) of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Dale of Granger, Iowa. Ambrose really encouraged education and was very proud of the educational accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.

Ambrose was grandfather to Jack Anthofer of Estes Park, Colorado and James Anthofer (Rebecca Gernes) of Des Moines, Iowa. Ambrose was a great-grandfather to Jame's sons, Felix and Louis and loved seeing the little ones during their visits. He enjoyed traveling, managing his hummingbird feeder, and coloring.

Ambrose is also survived by his brother Arby Anthofer of Willey, Iowa, his sister Aggie (Robert) Tigges of Urbandale, Iowa, sister-in-law Jean Anthofer of Springdale, Arkansas, and brother-in-law/sister-in-law Dennis and Sandra Wurr of Coon Rapids, Iowa. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents Henry and Mary (Kirsch), brother Alvin, sisters Angeline and Alberta and grandparents John and Lena (Wurzer) Anthofer and Adrew and Mary (Hoffman) Kirsch.

After a Memorial Service in Granger at Assumption Church he will be buried at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter, Iowa.
