Amelia Whitehurst Obituary
Amelia grew up with a great love for all things outdoors. The Natural History Museum was her happy place. She loved dinosaurs, ancient Egypt, music festivals, dancing and spicy food.
In high school she taught swim classes at the local Y. She was a published writer & artist. For many years a beloved barista until her love for biology took hold and she got her BA from SUNY Purchase, where after graduation she continued her work contributing to a paper on her research. Later she managed the biology lab at Dominican University.
She is survived by her parents Jaime (nee Rosenberg) & William Whitehurst of Nyack NY and sister Annie-Sage Whitehurst of NYC. She is predeceased by her grandparents Lois & James Whitehurst of Bloomington, IL, and Marilyn & George Rosenberg of Knoxville TN.
Our hearts will be forever broken, but filled with the undying light that was her spirit.

I grew up with Amelia. I remember being picked on a bit. And then doing same to others I suppose it was due to my insecurities at that point in grade school. I say this because when I think of a few people who always had a smile . She´s one of a few there were "the twins" , a girl name Jillian . Amelia ... and a couple others but I still remember her smile. She was always a very pretty girl. Idk how she passed. But I hope she´s at peace. I hope she´s still smiling .

I´ll never forget how excited I was at that thanksgiving when everyone came to Knoxville and I remember going to the park and thinking how cool she was with her pink hair and still taking time to play us with even though she was older than us. I will always remember her as the kind older cousin who always took time to entertain her younger cousins. May she rest in peace.
