For some reason Amery crossed my mind as I was falling asleep tonight. I wasn't super close with him but friends enough to share a joke and a laugh in the hall the day of his passing, that has stuck with me even 20 years later. I just remember him as such a happy and funny guy, whatever solace it brings just know all these years later he still lives in so many hearts.

I know it is decades later. I'd like to share that I still think of this friend I had. He was the reason I'd get to Junior High early. We'd sit and talk about video games, the day ahead or some cartoon that was on. We'd laugh and joke. He made the days easier and me smile. He was my friend.

We went to different high schools and I learned of his passing from a new friend I made. A film I was watching tonight brought a positive memory of Amery to mind. I share it now in hopes that someone else may find this later and smile.

I still miss you Amery Mills. I'm grateful for the company, the donuts and the friendship.

Jeff S. called me this moring to tell me of Amery's passing. I'm so very sorry! We talked about happy memories from the fishing tournaments in Glenwood. I wish there were words of comfort that I could say to you. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers!

George, Cheryl and Elliot,

I know Amery loved baseball and as we try to sit and watch the playoffs, he is all I think of. I know that he is pitching in his own playoff games and winning and is the MVP of each one of those games, with Annalynn and Jason cheering him on. He had the best grin of any kid on our block and he will be in our hearts forever.

To the Mills family,

I'm a student at Maple Grove Senior High. I was very close with Amery and miss him very deeply. I offer you my deepest apologies and hopefully some comfort in knowing that he was very happy at school. I can't remeber ever seeing him without a smile on, and he always had something brilliantly funny to say to lighten the mood. I will never forget Amery, and he and your family will remain in my prayers forever.God bless your family in this time of grief. Just know that Amery is up in heaven hitting home run after home run, forever smiling.

My family and I attended the Maple Grove Senior High School Choir concert this past week. The students sang beautifully. My favorite piece was Red, Red Rose by Rene Clausen.

My son David came home from school the following day and told us that one of the students had died in an accident after the concert. He said that he knew his brother Elliot. We prayed for Amery, Elliot and your entire family that night, we continue to pray for God to surround you all with comfort, peace and strength.

Dear Cheryl, George, and Elliot:

I am sitting here at my desk thinking about the events of the past week. I keep seeing Amery's wonderful smile the night I spoke to him at the Choir Concert, and I will hold that in my heart. I think he would be happy to know how he has brought our neighborhood back together again, since we all were kind of drifting apart with our busy lives. I am proud to live on 83rd Ave. We never knew when we moved here how lucky we are. All of us are fortunate to have known Amery, but there is a hole in the fabric of our neighborhood that may take a long time to repair. Tim and I, and our kids are devastated by his loss. Tim talks about Amery's great baseball game this summer when he pitched the entire game and went 4 for 4 with an in the park home run. Those are the games that made Tim's day as a coach. Please know that we will be here for you, and that you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

With love,

Amery was the kind of kid that the class of '05 needed.

Someone kind.

Patient.

Talented.

Modest.

Sincere.

Tolerant.

Above all, genuine.

There is such a tangible, raw sadness at school, felt even by those who did not know Amery.

We miss you.

I am so terribly sorry that you lost your beautiful son Amery. I think the only comfort to be found lies in the profound belief in heaven. That it is a place so much more wonderful than our beautiful Mother Earth, and we believe that we will meet there someday. So today we cry for ourselves because of our loss, knowing that it is heaven's gain, and that your dear Amery is safe.

God bless you guys during this hard time. I wish I could help in some way.

Mike and I are thinking of you all, praying for you too.

Please write whenever you can.

God bless you.

Cheryl, George, and Elliot,

My deepest sympathy to you all. I was in Amery's choir class this year and in The Overtones with him last year. There was nothing better than going to those bright and quite early practices for Overtones and seeing Amery's chipper smile and vibrant attitude. He'd never miss a practice for anything, and I always noticed his brilliant smile that always grew on me. He will always be in my heart and mind smiling, how could I possibly forget such a wonderful person? God's peace be with you all in this time, and may He be with you always. I pray that you all can be rested and find peace in the Lord.

Psalm 9:9 says: The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

Deuteronomy 33:27 says: The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

Peace in Christ always...

As I did not know Amery, I did attend Maple Grove Senior High last year, so therefore I feel a connection with him because we went to the same school. I am so sorry for the loss of Amery. From all the previous entries in the guest book, he seemed like an awesome person. I know that he will be greatly missed and I know that he is in a better place. No one can ever replace him and he is special in every way. God knew it was his time and it may be hard but there must be some prupose.

To his family: Stay strong and just believe that he is watching over you. You will pull through this hard time. You are in my prayers and God bless you all.

To the Mills family,

I am very sorry for your loss. I just got home tonight from my college and my mother handed me the thing about Amery. She didn't know that I knew him, but once I saw his face I started to cry. I knew him from a class last year and because of that we became sort of friends and during Mass concert reherasals we were placed by each other and would joke around. I will miss him a lot, but he is looking down on us and hoping we will be strong for him.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a bright and wonderful child. I had the great fortune of getting to know Amery as his confirmation mentor two years ago and I will never forget the wonderful conversations we had. The pain of his passing will eventually fade but the fond memories I will keep forever.

Me and my brother have known Amery since sixth grade! He always called us Billy & Bob, cuz he thought we looked like twins! And every time he saw us, those were the names he called us! It was great! He was such a cool kid! I had a class with him in 8th grade...he was so smart and talented! We would always joke around everytime we saw each other in the halls of school! It was so funny! I will always remember him by this picture i took of him. When we were in math class one day i wanted to take a picture of Amery and he wouldn't let me....so i told me other friend to run over to him and i'll take the picture...it is the funniest picture ever! The look on his face is priceless! I will always remember the good times with Amery he was such a cool kid!

To the Mills family, you are all in my prayers through this hard time! Amery will be greatly missed!

George, Cheryl & Elliot,

Our family would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to you and your family during this time of sorrow and will pray for you with hoped that the memories of Amery will help you through this difficult time.

During the last year of OMGAA baseball, Amery was one of the best pitchers we had on the team and I'll never forget the game where he went 4 for 4 in hitting. He just had an amazing day at the plate and was extremely happy. I also remember a time where he was pitching and just kept striking out batter after batter. I'll never forget the smile he gave me when I was harassing him on the mound. I shouted, "throw him the dark one" and Amery just smiled.

Amery was such a fun kid to have on the team and always seemed to have fun win or lose.

We will miss Amery and remember him always.

Cheryl and George, There are no words for how sorry we are about Amery's death. It is always hard to lose one that you love. In some cases of age and health problems you know that they are in a better place. We know Amery is in a better place but it is hard to understand why now and at his age. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
