Amery Sweany Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 10 to May 17, 2023.
Amery May Sweany, beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend entered eternal rest April 26th, 2023, at the age of 27. Amery is lovingly remembered by her parents Jerry and Melinda Sweany, her siblings Jeramy, Ariana, and Judson Sweany, her grandmother Judy and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Amery was predeceased by her dear mother, Amy Sweany, her grandfather, and her grandparents Mary and Jim Sweany.

Amery was born August 17th, 1995, in Vacaville, California to Jerry and Amy Sweany, just one minute before her twin Jeramy and she never let us forget who was oldest. Amery was compassionate, intelligent, and extremely strong-willed. As a child she was an avid reader who loved sewing, crochet, ballet and being in charge. She showed immense strength and maturity in the face of tragedy as a child and was a tremendously responsible, caring and compassionate sister, daughter and friend.

Amery attended Buckingham Magnet Charter School and played on the volleyball team. Amery has always been an intellectual and a critical thinker; she could not be told what to do and was not afraid to challenge the thinking of those around her. Amery had a nurturing and healing spirit and excelled in caring for children and the elderly. She had a special gift for comforting those who were hurting or struggling, and making people feel embraced and accepted just as they were.

As a fiercely independent young adult, Amery moved out on her own and continued her studies first at Butte Community College and then Chico State. Amery was absolutely brilliant, and could take on challenging academic material with great ease. Often times, Amery could be found curled up knitting or watching movies with her dear cat Monty accompanying her. Her friends lovingly remember her as a deeply loyal and nurturing friend and confidant, and as a true free spirit who would embark on solo travels throughout the mountains and along the sprawling coast of Northern California.

Amery faced unfathomable battles in her lifetime and her life was ended abruptly and unjustly. Amery wished to overcome her personal battles, and looked forward to living an adventurous and fulfilling life, traveling more, having a successful career and one day raising a family. Amery will be deeply missed and dearly remembered. Today, we are comforted by knowing that Amery is free, at peace, and suffering no longer.
