Ami (Hickmon) Lorance Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 5, 2024.
Ami Nicole (Hickmon) Lorance won her 7.5 year battle with cancer on October 3, 2024, and has been wrapped in the arms of Jesus and those who have gone on before her.

Born on April 16, 1993, she spent her 31 years on Earth as a light and inspiration to everyone she encountered. If you met Ami, you were no doubt touched by her sincere desire to understand and help you. If you didn't know Ami, we wish you did.

A lifetime resident of Athens, perhaps you went to school with her, or maybe you enjoyed one of the many nights of board games and laughter from any gathering she was part of. If you were lucky enough to know her, you know how much she loved and cared for everyone she met. Her empathy and compassion for all of God's creations was amazing.

As a graduate of the University of North Texas, she returned to Athens as a theatre teacher at the Middle School and High School. Maybe you were in the audience, or part of the cast, and know how much she enjoyed her many performances with HCPAC and Stage Notes Academy. Whether the lights were shining on her, or she was shining her light on you, she left everyone better for knowing her.

A member of Thrive Community Church, Ami's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through her journey and inspiring those around her.

Ami is survived by her husband Jacob Lorance; her mother Nicohle Lansdale; step-father Jerry Lansdale; father Jason Sullivan; siblings Nick Sullivan, Arianna Hurley (Phillip), Chloe Sullivan, Angela Ables (Jeremy), Aleshia Lansdale, and Laci House (Chris); many nieces and nephews; grandparents Ann Sullivan, Mike and Mary Pansa, and Ellen Hickmon; her beloved Corgi, Hamilton; and sweet kitty, Bast. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Beverly Pansa, Kenneth Hickmon, and Charlie Sullivan.

A service to celebrate Ami's life will be held at Thrive Community Church (610.5 Old Tyler Hwy, Athens, TX) on Saturday, October 19th, 2024, at 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ami's memory may be made to METAvivor (metavivor.org), Stage Notes Academy of Performing Arts (stagenotesapa.com), or Henderson County Performing Art Center (hcpac.org).

Ami was an absolute angel. No one deserved a fuller happier longer life than she. My heart aches for her family and friends. Nikki I´m thinking about you and if you need anything at all no matter how much or how far I´ll make it happen. Just ask. Love ya girl!

I had Ami in theatre. Though we didn´t see eye to eye on everything, we had a shared connection of love for the arts. She was always shining where ever she went, and she made it look effortless.

I will keep you in my prayers. I know how much she meant to you.

Ami and I worked together on several HCPAC shows where we developed a sweet bond of both respect and affection. I helped her with her music and she helped me with my acting. There was a great difference in our age, but that did not matter. She was my guiding light when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was the reason I went to MDAnderson. She held my hand and cheered for my good outcome, knowing full well that she would have no such luck. One of her greatest joys was writing wonderful complement cards to fellow cast members, often times with beautiful hand painted artwork. Many of us have and cherish these. She was smart, talented, stoic, and completely unforgettable. Pat Jousan Williams
