GALE, FRED H.

Of Reno, NV passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 3, 2004. Fred was born July 29, 1932 in Washington, DC. In 1953, having served in the U.S. Coast Guard, he began a radio career in Lumberton, NC that spanned the next 45 years until his retirement in Reno, NV. He was a disc jockey and broadcast at numerous radio stations in the Washington, DC area including WWDC, WUST, WINX, WOL and WPIK. Fred later became a radio talk show host. He broadcast his top rated controversial "Comment" show at WWDC in Washington, DC, WMCA in New York and WNAC in Boston. When he moved to Reno, NV he was known from his days at K-BULL radio station as "Mr. Reno". Many of the Reno locals knew him as a regular at Casales Halfway Club on East 4th Street. He was involved as a judge for many of the Reno area Chili Cook-offs. Fred's work at the information center of the Dartmouth Bookstore as well as his participation and attendance at local softball team games gained him many friends who remember him well in the New Hampshire, Vermont areas where much of his family still resides.

Fred was an amateur boxer in his youth and with the Coast Guard boxing team with an impressive 53-3-3 record. He was an avid golfer and fisherman as well as a huge sports fan. His friends remember him for his intelligence humor and compassion. His life touched many across the country and he will remain in the hearts of many forever.

Fred is survived by his children, Bonnie Moffett of Sparks, NV, Danny Potts of Capon Bridge, WV, Geoff Gale of Oceanside, CA and Tim Gale of Huntington Beach, CA; mother, Hallie Buskey; brothers, Wilton Buskey, Stephen Buskey, Walter Buskey and Raymond Buskey; and sister, Trisha Buskey-Gillies, all of the Upper Valley NH, VT, sisters, Sally Tear and Thelma Truitt, both of New Market, MD, brother, Charles Meister of CA; as well as four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
