Amasa Lorenzo Cox
Amasa Lorenzo Cox, age 82, of Provo, Utah, passed away March 3, 2006, at his home in Provo. He was born June 26, 1923, in Fairview, Utah, to Mallarnes Jehu and Emeline Anderson Cox. He married Hazel Anna Olson on May 22, 1942, in Manti. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Amasa was a long-time resident of Provo. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after his service during WWII. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held various positions over the years. He worked as a custodian at Provost Elementary for many years until retirement. He loved to go camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel, of Provo; a son, Glen (Emma Jean) Cox, of Spanish Fork; and a daughter, Carolyn (Steven) Willcox, of Layton; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Simons, of Provo. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at 11 a.m., in the Rivergrove 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 780 North 700 West, Provo. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Monday evening, from 6-8 p.m.; or, Tuesday morning, at the ward chapel, one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery with full Military Honors.
