Amy Kanagaki Hussey

July 26, 1931 - August 17, 2023

Seaside, California

It was three weeks after her 92nd birthday when Amy passed away quietly and peacefully in her home with family present.

Curious and openhearted, with a winning smile for both strangers and friends, Amy was a tireless happy worker, a gifted seamstress, and stylist. A life-long learner and artist who delighted in sharing her new discoveries, her children and their cousins along with her long-time friends loved and cherished her spirit throughout her life and now in death.

Born Kanagaki Satoko in Nishinomiya, Japan, to Mine Ezaburo and Kanagaki Tokiko, she was well educated and multilingual before arriving in the United States for the first time. After marrying US Army Sergeant Edgar C. Wikdall, Jr., they settled on the Monterey Peninsula with their two children in the 1950s. In the early1960's, she and her young family lived in Saigon, Vietnam and Tokyo, Japan, returning to the Peninsula in 1966. Amy was proud to be born and raised Japanese, being an American, and honored to serve as a Federal civilian employee. She later married her soul mate Bernard "Tenny" Hussey, originally from Kohala, Hawaii, a decorated US Army veteran.

Her daughter Ramie Wikdall, son Edgar C. Wikdall III, grand-daughter Livvy Wikdall and her families in western Japan and Hawaii survive her.

Service and scattering were private via Bermudez Family Cremations and Funerals of Monterey. Please donate to your favorite charity on her behalf.
