Amy Mary Lawrence passed away unexpectedly on August 8th, 2023 at the age of 68 in her home in Avenel, New Jersey. She was born on May 5th, 1955 in Plainfield, NJ to Daniel and Charlotte Swinton of Cranford.
Amy grew up mainly in Cranford, NJ and also lived in London for several years in her early life where she attended The American School in London. While living in London, she and her family were able to travel to many countries, and developed memories that she cherished for the rest of her life. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ, and married James Lawrence in 1986. On August 3rd, 1991, Amy’s biggest dream of becoming a mother became true and she welcomed her wonderful son, who was the most important part of her life. She worked at various firms in central New Jersey in administrative and customer service positions throughout her career.
Amy was a devoted mother and wife. Favorite hobbies of hers included camping in her RV, visiting the beach, fishing while at the shore, coloring, gardening, watching her favorite TV shows, and spending time with her beloved grandson. Amy was happiest when spending time with her family, and was an amazing daughter, wife, sister, mother and grandmother, “Nana”. She leaves behind her husband (James Lawrence), son (David M. Lawrence), daughter-in-law (Karen) grandson (Benjamin M. Lawrence), three siblings (Daniel Swinton and his wife Audrey, Susan Robinson and her husband Brayton, and Gale Swiontkowski) as well as several nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and everyone who knew her.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 15th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Gray Memorial Home in Cranford. The funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16th at Trinity Episcopal Church in Cranford, followed by her burial at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Arrangements by Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford. Donations can be made to the ASPCA or the Humane Society.
