Amy Middlebrook Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 13, 2017.
Amy Annette Middlebrook, aged 41 of Nacogdoches, beheld her Lord and Savior face-to-face on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 after passing away in her home. What Amy knew in part, she now knows in whole as she glimpses the full glory of God. Born in Nacogdoches on January 28, 1976 to Virginia "Ginger" Hudson Voorhesse and Jerry Michael "Mike" Worsham, Amy graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1994 and joined in marriage covenant with George Middlebrook IV on March 11, 1995. Amy went on to become a labor and delivery nurse at Memorial Hospital until the birth of her son, Quint, when her nurturing inclinations shifted to the home as loving wife and mother. From a young age, Amy was touched by the grace of God, sparking faith in Jesus as the only path of salvation from sin. Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis as a teenager, Amy’s life boldly proclaimed the sufficiency of God’s grace as she endured illness. Instead of questioning God in struggle, she was thankful that her own health struggles drew her closer to God and increased her compassion for others. Each day Amy lived as the apostle Paul did, "To live is Christ and to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21), and while we mourn her physical death, she is experiencing the gain of spiritual life eternally. Survived by her husband of 22 years, George Middlebrook IV, and her son George Middlebrook V "Quint," Amy’s sweet smile, joyful laughter, and enthusiastic cheers will be greatly missed at Quint’s swim meets, baseball games, and triathlons. Additionally, Amy is survived by her mother Ginger Voorheese of Bullard, TX and husband Curtis; her father Mike Worsham of Nacogdoches, TX and wife Lois Ann; and her brother Andrew Worsham of Nacogdoches, TX and soon to be wife Tiffany. Amy will also be missed by surviving father and mother-in-law George and Carla Middlebrook; sister and brother-in-law Christie and Robert Rasberry and children, Mason and Emma; and brother and sister-in-law Andrew and Holly Middlebrook and children, Drew, Brett, & Blake all of Nacogdoches, TX. Furthermore, Amy is survived by her church family at Fredonia Hill Baptist Church who will miss her teaching at Women’s Bible Study, guitar strumming in worship services, and encouraging words and prayers. Visitation for family and friends will be hosted at Amy’s home church Fredonia Hill Baptist Church on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 am followed by a memorial Celebration Service at 11:00 am officiated by Pastor Pat Kelly and Elder Dr. Ty Spradley. Fredonia Hill Baptist Church is located at 1711 South Street. Memorial contributions can be made to Fredonia Hill Baptist Church’s Worship Ministry, a ministry Amy cherished, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of America. Online condolences may be left at www.casonmonk-metcalf.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches, Texas.

Mike, Ginger, and Andrew - My heart breaks for your loss. It's been many years, but I remember Amy's sweet smile when we were all members of Calvary. I pray that you find peace and comfort in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amy is one of the most beautiful spirits God has created. Today she is radiant, healed and whole, "breathing" freely the breath of eternal life, that beautiful smile present with our Lord. Her 41 years on this earth were spent serving God and loving others with every ounce of energy she could grasp. Her beauty, courage and tenacity struck awe in all of us. Her testimony was (and her legacy will always be) that of her devotion to Christ. Her effervescent smile transcends time and space and surely has brought echoes of celebration to Heaven. We love you Amy. Our prayers are with George, Quint, Ginger, Andrew, Mike, the Middlebrooks, the Worshams, the Hudsons, and all who love her. Amy touched so many. Those who are left can be comforted that she is present with our Lord. Oh what a beautiful life continues.

Oh sweet Amy! It has been what seems like forever since I saw you and I am so saddened to hear of your passing today. I have so many memories as a little girl playing with you and of your mother and dad. You can now play your instrument while my mother is playing the piano, as I know she is dancing with you in heaven. Until I see you again give great grandma Ouida Hope and my mommy a hug, I miss her dearly. Love you Hope

Dear Mrs. Ginger, Mr. Mike, Andrew, and Quint, Amy was such a sweet sweet soul with the best smile ever. When we seen Amy she was always happy, smiling, and so uplifting. We have known Amy a long time and never was she different every time we seen her. She never ever complained about anything. She will be missed so much. All of us baseball parents will miss her setting in her chair cheering on Quint in such a positive way. We love u Amy rest and breath peacfully!!!

A shining example of grace and wisdom, Amy continually gave all the glory to God. We can recall her reciting John the Baptist's words about Jesus, "He must increase, but I must decrease." Our prayers pour out for George and Quint. You are loved.

Words often fail us at times like these. Our thoughts and prayers are with y'all! I didn't know Amy very well, but she was one of those Christians who let God's love shine through her. One didn't have to ask if she was a Christian; people just knew.

Amy's smile lit up a room and her sweet, soft voice made you want to hear what she had to say. She loved Jesus and you saw it in her face! Even when she wasn't feeling great, she still smiled and loved others well. My heart mourns with George and Quint, but my soul rejoices with Amy as she is in her eternal home with a perfect body and continuous worship with her King!

My heart is grieved to hear about Amy but I am so encouraged by the scripture in Psalm 116:15...."Precious in the sight of The Lord is the death of His saints". Truly Amy was a saint and a daughter of the King of Kings....she exhibited it throughout her life and how precious it was to have known her here on earth. I have all of you in my prayers as you face the days ahead when missing her sweet face, voice and acts of love. Much love to all of you.

My prayers are with you all...may your memories keep Amy close and may God provide comfort and peace to your hurting hearts. Amy was my best friend in childhood. We did everything together. We had huge imaginations, became explorers in the woods at our homes, talked with flashlights under blankets at sleepovers, played dolls and pretended "school", shared secrets, cheered each other up, and made each other laugh. She made my childhood memories so happy. Amy made so many people happy. She will not be forgotten.
