Amy Mogan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 30, 2023.
Amy Marye Mogan passed away on August 28, 2023, in Richardson, TX, at the age of 51 as a result of complications from brain cancer. Amy was born on July 27, 1972, in Fort Worth, TX. She was raised in Palestine, Texas by parents Sonny and Mayre McDougle.

She was a beloved wife to Gavin Mogan and a devoted mother to son, Luke and daughter, Maris. Amy is also survived by her mother and father, her brother Trey Trammel, stepbrothers Kevin Horn and Kenneth "Mark" Horn, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Amy was preceded in death by grandfather, Harry Skerritt, and grandmother, Myrlene Skerritt.

Amy had an invincible and infectious spirit visible in everything she did. She collected friends like the shore collects seashells. She was especially in her element around other young mothers. She grew community around the joy of time with family. Amy saw good in everyone and everything, except Christmas lights kept on display too long.

In her career, Amy held various administrative assistant, marketing, and human resources positions at Bickle & Brewer Law, Neiman Marcus, Parkinson Voice Project, and Tessitura Network, among others. She was known for her dedication, professionalism, and team spirit. She established lifelong relationships everywhere she worked.

Amy found solace and strength in her faith and was a member of Arapaho United Methodist.

Amy also had a passion for animals. She was a volunteer at the Dallas Zoo, where she especially enjoyed time among the elephants. Rescue pets in multiples were a staple of Amy's entire life.

Amy loved to travel, meet new people, and virtually all forms of creative arts.

Amy's Afterparty will celebrate Amy's life on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the Adaptive Training Foundation located at 4125 Old Denton Road, Carrollton, TX 75010. Before going afterlife, Amy always went after life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to the Endangered Ark Foundation elephant preserve at Endangeredarkfoundation.org or to a charity of your choice.

Amy Marye Mogan will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her infectious spirit and unwavering love for her family and friends will forever be cherished. God willing, it lives forever through us. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

My deepest sympathy to Amy's family. I will treasure our time together in middle school and high school. Amy was fun! Laughing uncontrollably at a drive through will always be etched in my memory. She also brought a little city to us country folk and we enjoyed every minute of it. I hope to always keep her smile and laugh close in my heart.
Praying for you all.

What I first noticed about Amy in our neighborhood was her beautiful smile and friendly personality. She was very easy to talk to and fun to be with. When I think of her and even looking at the pictures, I still could hear her signature laugh, very original and unpretentious. I will miss that a lot! I missed the chats we had in the backyard, in the front yard, she always had a positive outlook in life. When we visited her last April, she was hopeful when talking about her condition, she was opened to anything that will help not only her situation but of her family as well. Even in her current situation, she was thinking of Gavin and the kids, and us visiting her. As her condition progressed, she made light of her inability to see well or remember things. She was the same energetic and full of life kind of person. Deep inside I was struggling to understand, why Amy, and what will happen to Gavin, Luke and Maris? She really amazed me! With prayers and God's grace, I'm comforted to know that her family will continue to be in God's care along with the power of her memory and enduring influence. Amy was a special lady and God wanted her back in heaven where she should be and no doubt, Amy knows that. She was always God's girl. She will truly be missed by us here and we could only be inspired by Amy's generous spirit. God bless you Amy and may you rest in eternal peace with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amy and Gavin were my neighbors during some very difficult years. They were a blessing to my children and my 5 year old daughter missed her dearly when we moved to another city as Amy was always so kind and helpful with my little ones My heart goes out to Gavin, Luke, and Maris as they grieve this temporary loss. Until we´re all united in heaven by the grace of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Amy, I loved this moment with you at our Tessitura Global Team Summit in February 2020 in LA. It's particularly special to me because, as a remote work colleague, I looked forward to seeing you in person at these meetings and loved our tradition of going to The Groundlings Theatre every time. I'm glad I had my camera that evening, because this captures your spirit completely. I miss our hilarious Slack chats. You have left a huge un-fillable hole in our lives, but you will never leave our hearts. Just the most extraordinary and beautiful person.

When I had Luke as a student, Amy and I happened to take a kickboxing class together. For Teacher Appreciation Week, she gave me pink boxing gloves. They now hang in my classroom as a reminder of the strength we have inside. I know she had that strength until the very end.

Amy and I worked at Neiman Marcus together and were pregnant with our sons at the same time. We enjoyed doing new Mom things together and when we left the Dallas area to move out of state we had a going away celebration at Rainforest Cafe at Grapevine Mall. She was beautiful soul and will be missed by so many. An angel to look over her family.
