Anders W. Anderson, "Andy," 83, passed away Sunday evening, May 30, 2004, at his home in Billings, after having a stroke nine years ago.
Andy was born July 31, 1920, in Denver, to Otto H. and Emma J. Anderson. He attended Greeley High School, graduating in 1938.
On May 23, 1943, Andy married Frances Juhl. The couple farmed in the Eaton-Ault area until 1962, when they moved to a ranch north of Wibaux. In 1968, the family moved to a ranch at Briggsdale, Colo., before returning to Wibaux in 1973. Semi-retirement came in 1978, when the move to Billings was made, yet continuing to operate ranches at Columbus, Miles City and later at Fly Creek. Andy moved to Greeley, Colo., in 1985 and returned to Billings in 1994.
On April 14, 1990, Anders married Gloria Elquest at their home in Greeley. The couple loved music and dancing, and together, they traveled to many polka festivals.
Andy loved music. He was an accordion, piano and organ player. He was a collector of early model cars, especially favoring Fords. Andy was a past member of the Senior Citizens Center, OAKS, Moose Lodge, Montana Stock Grower's Association, American Angus Association, Colorado Cattleman's Association, Colorado Beet Grower's Association and the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his son, Erik Anderson; daughter, Carol Kraft; grandchildren, Nathan Kraft, Jena Kraft and Britt Anderson Siddoway; caregivers, Millie Martell and Shirley Smart.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, 29 Eighth St. West, Billings. Interment in Linn Grove Cemetery, Greeley. Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse Service or Big Sky Hospice.
