ANDREA CINES

CINES--Andrea, June 10, 1938 - January 14, 2010. Passed peacefully and quickly. Devoted mother to Seth and Andrew Matlins; smitten and unconditional lover of her grandchildren, EllaRose and Otis Matlins of Los Angeles, and Hannah Matlins of Bangor, ME. Friend and counsel to her daughters in-law, Eva Karelsen of Los Angeles and Paula Matlins of Bangor. Hers was a life defined by a strong belief in the role of community, whether it be 60 years of allegiance and connection to her classmates at The Little Red Schoolhouse; the neighborhood streets she'd walk in central Jersey, a coterie of other needlepoint aficionados, or her enduring identity as a life-long New Yorker. Daughter of Fannette Aul and Arnold Cines, Andrea brought to life what she had and what she'd been given. She leaves us quickly, too soon, but as always, as a real dame.
