Andrea Elizabeth Wong of Newton passed peacefully on November 28, 2021. She was 30 years old. Andrea was the beloved daughter of Percy and Alvin, the adored sister of Steven. She leaves her cherished partner Danny Lee and dearest friend Kathy Yi.
Andrea is predeceased by her paternal grandmother Kiu Ngor Wong and her maternal grandparents Sum Tok Wong and Yuet Yu Wong. She is survived by her paternal grandfather James Wong of New York City; her aunt Christine Wong and her husband Gary of Ontario, Canada; her uncle Norman Wong and his wife Debbie of Peterborough, Canada; and her aunt Peona Wong and her husband Eric of Minneapolis. She also leaves many cousins and countless friends who will miss and never forget her boundless energy, infectious enthusiasm, and undaunted grace and good humor.
Born in Boston, Andrea lived in Japan for two years and attended Nagoya International School. She graduated from Newton South High School in 2009 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rochester in 2013. She was a dedicated sister of Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. and held many leadership positions. Andrea was passionate in philanthropy work of combating domestic violence and was an inspiration and role model to many. She enjoyed the close friendship and support of her much-loved classmates through frequent trips and get-togethers.
Andrea loved hiking, photography, traveling, baking, and arts & crafts. Danny and Andrea built a warm and welcoming life together, creating special memories through trips to National Parks. She was an avid jogger, often exercising with her beloved German Shepard, Daisy. Andrea was employed as a Process Engineer at Sanofi and was pursuing a Master of Science in System Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
To know Andrea was to be welcomed into a circle of kindness and fun. We will not forget the sparkling smile that lit up her face and brightened our days. Andrea's loss is inestimable, but her strength during adversity is an inspiratio on how to live well and fully.
Her parents would like to acknowledge Danny Lee and Kathy Yi for their selfless and loving care that filled Andrea's days with love, laughter, and meaning. Deep gratitude to Abbey Clarkin, countless caring members of the Mass General community, and Mary Hart for their support at this difficult time.
A celebration of life service is planned on May 15, 2022 at 1 pm at the Boston College Connors Center, 20 Glen Street, Dover, MA. Family and friends are most welcome.
