Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 8, 2005.
Andrew Michael Bogdan 1945 ~ 2005 My best friend, my husband, Andrew Bogdan passed away unexpectedly at our home on Sept 5, 2005. Born Feb. 16, 1945 in San Francisco, California to Andrew & Vera Bogdan. Graduated from San Carlos High School in 1962. That same year Andy joined the U.S. Airforce and served 6 years with a tour of duty in Vietnam. Married Margaret (Peggy) Benkover, May 7, 1972. She died July 1976. He then married Cathy Orlandi Perri, July 24, 1983 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Andy was a carpenter for many years before his employment with Fidelity Investments. Because of multiple myeloma he retired from Fidelity in 1997. He immensely enjoyed belonging to the Salt Lake Astronomical Society and helping build the Stansbury Observatories with his buddies. One of his other interests was riding the bus to Wendover with his dear friend Ken Harris. Andy also loved his garden and claimed to have the best tomatoes around. Other pleasures were camping, fishing and being at the coast. Andy leaves behind his best friend, Cathy and their furry kids Peanut and Sophie. His mother, Vera Bogdan, San Carlos, CA.; sister, Diana (Kent) Ackley of San Jose, CA.; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. A special cousin, Becki Mangus of Salt Lake City and a special niece, Caycee Brown, Midvale, UT. He also leaves behind many dear and special friends. Preceded in death by his father, Andrew M. Bogdan. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be Sept 10, 2005, Saturday, 2:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy. I didn't know Uncle Andy as well as others in our family, his likes and dislikes or the things he loved. I do know one thing, he loved my Aunt Cathy. So, I guess I knew all I needed to know.

I didn't know Andy very long but I felt it a privilege to know and work with him during the building of the Stansbury Observatory. He was an extraordinary man and one that I will miss greatly. My heart goes out to his wife and family.
