Andrew Earl Larew Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 11, 2024.
Andrew Earl Larew, 61, of Westport, CT and New York, NY, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on October 1, 2024, after mightily battling Multiple Myeloma for 10 years. Born on July 31, 1963, Andrew was a devoted husband to his wife, Chrissy, and a loving father to his daughter, Allison, and sons, Benjamin and Theodore. Andrew adored his dog, Lucky, who brought him immense joy and companionship. He was known for his kindness, curiosity, humor and love of laughter, as well as his adventurous spirit.

A proud 1986 graduate of the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, Andrew kept strong ties to the Syracuse area, fostering connections and friendships that lasted a lifetime. He spent 38 years in the real estate industry, eventually running a very successful commercial mortgage banking firm, Larew Doyle & Associates, with his longtime friend and partner Alan Doyle, where he was highly regarded by colleagues and clients alike. His passion for all things real estate led him to also invest in commercial properties upstate with 'two of the finest partners anyone could ever have in Anthony Fiorito and John Funiciello". He was known for his creative perspective on real estate, and his ability to get deals done.

His role in college as Social Chair at Phi Delta Theta was meant for him. Bringing friends and family together brought immense joy to him and to those around him, and he had a unique ability to connect with everyone he met. His love of shenanigans as a youth and adventure as an adult led him to explore new places and experiences, inspiring those around him to embrace life fully. As a trustee and a member of the Fifth Presbyterian Church, Andrew served his community with dedication and compassion, touching the lives of many.

Andrew held many titles in his life, but his favorite role was being a father. Unwavering through difficult times and through his illness, he loved tirelessly to see that his children had the best opportunities to grow and thrive. He loved spending time with his now adult children. He was always there for them, with an endless supply of unconditional love and support.

He is survived by his parents, John and Cora Larew, his brother John (Jay), sister Amy Larew and Chris Kramer. Also, his brothers and sisters-in-law Mary Delaney, Ed and Jennifer Wojcik and Marlene and Ian Reynolds. He was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews: Erin, Katie, Nicole, Karissa, Graham, Brodie, Sophie, and Jack. Andrew will be remembered by many dear friends for his warmth and generosity.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at 2pm at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Andrew's annual appeal for Mount Sinai Hospital https://giving.mountsinai.org/site/TR?px=2701936&fr_id=1090&pg=personal

or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation www.themmrf.org .

Andrew, thank you for being a wonderful supporter of Phi Delta Theta - NY Epsilon. Your love of our Fraternity shined brightly when you purchased the house at 210 Walnut Place and helped secure the legacy of Phi Delt at Syracuse. Those brothers who knew you as their Landlord are truly blessed. A small donation was made by the Alumni Association to Mount Sinai in your lasting memory.

I never knew Andrew well although we certainly met during his visits with John in Poughkeepsie and John's wedding. I do know he was a special person in John's life and the life of their families. John spoke often of his brother's generosity & help in times of need, which surely means he will be remembered and dearly missed. On behalf of the old crew in Poughkeepsie, our condolences & prayers to the family for this unfortunate loss. May Andrew live long in the memories of his kindness.
