Andrew HERON Obituary
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Dad was predeceased by his parents William and Amelia and his brothers, Billy and David.
Dad never allowed his cancer diagnosis to stop him from living his life to the fullest and he never let it slow him down. Dad was an incredibly loving man who loved his wife, children and his grandchildren immensely. His grandchildren loved to spend time with him and he always made each one of them feel special.
Mom was the love of Dad's life for almost 63 years. He was incredibly devoted to her and she remained his number one until the very end. He will be forever missed by his four children Drew, Gary (Rose), Angela (Chris) and Beverly (Jamie) and his eight grandchildren, who absolutely adored him, Jessica, Brooke, Rebecca, Caitlin, Liam, Gabriel, Daniel and Sophia. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews around the world.
Dad was a dedicated friend to so many. He loved to be with people and to share some good craic (stories) and maybe a pint of Guinness. His story telling and sense of humour was simply unmatched!
In 1976, Dad and Mom made the decision to leave their home in Belfast to bring their four children to Canada in order to start a new life here. They sacrificed so much at that time and we are forever grateful to them.
We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at St. Peter's Hospital, Palliative Care unit for the care and compassion that they showed Dad over the past three months. A special mention to Dr. Jordan Lafranier and Dr. Jesse Solomon as well as Dr. James Woodland for their exceptional care.
A Celebration of Life to honour both Dad and Mom will take place on Saturday May 13, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at MacNab Street Presbyterian Church, 116 MacNab St S, Hamilton, ON. Please note that parking at the church is on street only and is extremely limited.

I was lucky to have known May and Andy for a few years. May was always a joy to be around mostly when she would sing and dance for us... ask us for tea and a biscuit and just want to chat. Andy was such a gentleman. I always looked forward to when he came to see May.... Because he would check in with everyone... make everyone laugh.
They both gave so many beautiful memories.
To the Heron family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. We have been so lucky to know your family.

I remember Andy quite well from Eaton's Limeridge Mall. It was always a pleasure to have a chat with him, he was always in a good mood, or had a story to share. I also remember May, a lovely lady. My condolenses on the loss of both of your parents. RIP Andy & May. Sue Meek (Eaton's employee)

Andy and May were our friends since the 60´s, where May and Philomena were great work friends. May and Andy remained great friends over the years maintaining correspondence after their move to Canada. Great memories of many great times with Andy and May. Always in our thoughts.

The Brammeld Family circle send their sincere condolences to the Family of Andy and May and share with you all the loss of two very dear people.
May was our mum Philomena´s best friend from the 60´s, working together as Narrow Hemming specialists in Belfast. Despite being from different sides of the sectarian divide in Belfast they maintained a very close friendship over the years. We would like to share some images from their last time together in 2018, where they were reunited for a week in September 2018. You can see how both couples thoroughly enjoyed each others company and could so easily pick up where they´d left off in their friendship. This was a very special time for all concerned.
Andy and May will always be remembered fondly by our family and will be held in our prayers.

It was a pleasure meeting your dad. I'm just sorry it was under these circumstances at St. Peter's. "Our Andy" was such a gentle soul and I always enjoyed talking to him. I'm glad I was able to bring in some soda bread for him to enjoy!! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
