DUNCAN, SC-- Andrew Thomas McHugh, 79, of 406 Apple Valley Road, went home to with the Lord on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at North Greenville Hospital.
A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late R.B. and Lucy Bennett McHugh, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired employee of Lyman Printing and Finishing. Mr. McHugh was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Bennett-Brockman-Jackson Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Reidville Masonic Lodge and the Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Dorothy DeYoung McHugh of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Larry Parham of Duncan; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Charles Weir of Duncan; three granddaughters and grandsons, Kristin and George Spehar, Lauren and Andy Starnes, and Leslie Parham and Kyle Ross; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Andrew Spehar; and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Margaret DeYoung of Duncan.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Sharon United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Matt Yon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be George Spehar, Andrew Spehar, Andy Starnes, Alan Fowler, Karl Fowler, Kyle Ross, Rick Belcher, and Bob Weir.
Honorary escorts will be the Bennett-Brockman-Jackson Sunday School Class, Pat Brockman, Jimmy Gossett, Johnny Wade, Jimmy Johnson, Gerald Waddell, J.B. Waddell, Carroll Perkins, Ed Snow, Jackie and Ginger Floyd.
Visitation will be held 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM Sunday at the church.
The family is at the home.
