ANDREW O'NEIL Obituary

O'NEIL
ANDREW BRIAN
Five years old, of North Huntingdon, passed away at home on Monday, December 12, 2016 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Andrew was born April 30, 2011 at West Penn Hospital and is the son of Brian and Jaime (Hagerty) O'Neil of North Huntingdon; and the beloved brother of Matthew James O'Neil. Andrew is also survived by maternal grandparents, James "Papa" and Linda "Gramma" Hagerty, of Franklin; and paternal grand- parents, James "Pap" and Marjorie "Nana" O'Neil, of Harrison City; aunt, Jill Shull and her husband, Christopher, and their children, Abigail and Evan, of Franklin; and Uncle Greg O'Neil and his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Alexis and Dylan, of Harrison City. Andrew was such an amazing boy with a contagious smile and striking blue eyes. He was a strong spirit who was wise beyond his years. The name "Andrew" means "strong and manly", two characteristics he certainly was. He was a hero and inspiration to so many that had the pleasure of knowing him or his journey. He enjoyed building Legos, playing with his many "figures", and sports. Most of all he loved his brother, Matthew, whom he idolized. He spent the last month fulfilling his every wish in Walt Disney World, at the Pitt Panthers football game, and enjoying precious moments with family and friends. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all of those that he touched. We are all Andrew's Avengers! Friends will be received 6-8 p.m. Wednesday; and 2-4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the OTT FUNERAL HOME INC. 805 Pennsylvania Avenue, Irwin. A public vigil will be held Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Norwin High School Auditorium in celebration of Andrew's life. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday 11 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church Irwin, PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Make- A-Wish of Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, Inc. (mail donations to Make-A-Wish The Gulf Tower, 707 Grant Street 37th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA. 15219-1938) or a memorial contribution be made to the Andrew's Avengers Fund, Key Bank, 201 Ronda Court, North Huntingdon, PA. 15642 with the intention of helping other pediatric cancer patients and their families.
