EXETER - Andrew D. Smith, Sr., 51, died unexpectedly May 5th 2016 at his home. He was born December 28, 1964 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor along with his twin sister Susan. The son of Orrin H. and Mary M. (McHale) Smith.

Andrew was a graduate of the Bangor High Class of 1983. Following his graduation he entered the transportation industry of which he had a passion for since he was a child. Andrew would frequently and fondly reference life lessons from his mentors Cliff Pottle and Dave Dysart. He worked a variety of different positions in the industry which included owning his own truck, and of all the positons hauling wood and working with his son were his favorites.

Andrew was a loving and proud father who greatly enjoyed watching his son grow into a young man. Andrew was an avid reader of the Bangor daily and many books. Andrew also enjoyed snowmobiling, reminiscing with friends about their excursions of youth, and dinners with family. He will be remembered for his great laugh, knack for telling stories, and quick witty humor.

Andrew is survived by his son Andrew Smith Jr. and girlfriend Kimberly Nelson of Dexter, sister Susan Smith of Florida, brother Paul Smith of Holden, uncle Tim McHale of Dedham, nephew Darren Smith and niece Kaylee Smith. He was predeceased by his mother Mary and father Orrin and uncle Allen McHale.

A celebration of Andrew's life will be held at 1:00 to 4:00 pm Saturday, May 14 in the banquet room, at Dysart's Restaurant Broadway, 1110 Broadway, Bangor for family and friends.
