Andy Hodap Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 2, 2013.
Andy Hodap is the most honorable, hardworking, dependable and loyal man I will ever know.

Andy Hodap was born on November 28, 1938. He had two brothers and two sisters. He went to school at a monastery in Austria, where he learned Greek, Latin and English.

His family left Austria in 1956 to escape World War II. They immigrated to Chicago Illinois, where he attended night school to learn more of the English language.

Andy and his older brother Nick, bought a black 1957 Chevy together. They took turns sitting in the drivers seat. They could not drive it, as neither one had a drivers license.

Andy became an American citizen in 1963, and set out to live the American dream. He worked as a window washer, dangling from a rope high above the busy streets of Chicago.

He met Rita in 1958 at the German Club in Chicago. They were married on February 6, 1960. They had three children, Peter, Marc and Linda.

Andy moved his family to Tucson Arizona in 1972. They bought a house where they lived for the last 41 years.

He was an extremely hard worker. The first to arrive and the last to leave. Andy worked at Romanoski Glass and Mirror for over 30 years. He started as a glazier and worked his way up to vice president of the company. Romanoski Glass and Mirror became his second home and the people he worked with became his second family.

He was a very strong man that loved his family. He was especially proud of his six grand children. His eyes would light up and he would have a big smile on his face when he was with them. He loved them fiercely. There is nothing he would not do for them.

Over the last 3 years he had one major health issue after another. He fought long, he fought hard, he fought to survive his family.

Andy was one of a kind! He is a great man and respected by everyone that knew him. His family loves him very much. He will be extremely missed every single day! He may be gone but he will never be forgotten. It has been an honor and a privilege to have him as my father.

I had the pleasure of working with you and Marc for many years. Now you are in Heaven with your son. If there is a division 8 there, I am certain the specs are solid gold. Enjoy this Andy, as you are living in the glory of God. And please say hello to Marc!

We are so sorry for your loss. I worked for Romanoski in the Phoenix office for 14 years. When he called from the Tucson office I always new it was him becuase he always said "good morning kido what kind of trouble are you stirring up today". He always made me smile. Very good man and had a lot of pride in what he did. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as well as the Romanoski Family. With lots of Love The Bland Family, Dan, Cinnamon, Payton & Noah Bland.

Andy - I came into your family with someone we both love. You shared with me your heart and home and loved me as your own. As I have grown to love you, I am thankful everyday that God sent me this family who's special in every way. And, now that you are gone, it will be hard to go on - we will talk and think of you often and you'll always be in our hearts!
