Andy Bryan Smart

SMART Andy Bryan Smart, 75, of Tebbetts, passed away at his farm on Tuesday, November 17, 2009. He was born May 18, 1934, in Tebbetts, Missouri, the son of Dewitt Clinton and Edith (Sanford) Smart. He graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1953. On February 3, 1956, Andy was united in marriage to Peggy J. Stoll. Andy has been a lifelong resident of Tebbetts. Andy owned and operated Smart Brothers Farms with his brother, Lloyd. He was a member of the Tebbetts Masonic Lodge 565, Oddfellows, Rebeccas, Mokane Eastern Star, served on numerous farm advisory boards, and was named President of the Kingdom of Callaway Supper in 1986. His passions included farming and driving the country roads to check on his crops (occasionally entertaining the grandchildren … and himself … by letting them take the wheel), hunting (deer camp was his favorite), playing cards at the AM Vets, shop parties (playing more cards) and spending time with family and friends. Andy is survived by his wife, Peggy; three children: Greg Smart of Tebbetts; Jayne and Jim Dunkmann of Holts Summit; and Judy Gehrke of Jefferson City; nine grandchildren and their spouses: Melissa and Joey Vineyard, Matt and Melischa Smart, Ryan and Heather Gehrke, Josh and Adrean Smart, Whitney Colvin, Kaleb Smart, Andi Gehrke, Morgan Gehrke, and Madeline Dunkmann; and six great-grandchildren: Zach Morris, Kaitlyn Smart, Ryleigh Morris, Raegan Smart, Braeden Vineyard, and Delaney Smart. Andy is also survived by two brothers and their spouses: Wilson and Betty Smart and Lloyd and Mary Ann Smart, both of Tebbetts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt Clinton and Edith Smart and four brothers, Bill, Bob, Joe and Carroll Smart. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2009, at the Maupin Funeral Home, with Reverend Beth Duckworth officiating. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Tebbetts.
