Angela Lee Pitts-Johnson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Angela Lee Pitts-Johnson. Angela passed on Friday, May 23, 2025 after a long, hard-fought battle with colorectal cancer. Born to Raymond and Virginia Pitts in 1962, Angela was their only child.

Angela graduated from Valley High School in 1980, followed by an education at Kentucky State University. After more than 20 years she retired from the Office of Circuit Court Clerks in 2019 and then began a new career with the Kentucky State Police as a certified driver's test administrator.

Angela found immense joy in her grandchildren, Isaac Gilbert, Laila Gilbert, MaKayla Gilbert, and Jamir Vance. She is survived by her daughters, LaKia Gilbert (Charles) and JaLeesa Johnson, parents Raymond and Virginia Pitts, step-sibling, Ramona Pitts, and niece, Sydnee Bradley.

She was an avid shopper and considered cruising a passion. She loved any opportunity to cruise and was ecstatic when she reached a platinum level tier status. Every cruise discussion began with what color we would wear for elegant nights. On her final cruise, she got to realize her dream of having all of her grandchildren with her for a picture.

Angela was a giver in the truest sense of the word. She was willing to give and sacrifice for the betterment of others. It was nothing short of incredible to see her take care of and give her heart to those in need. The life she lived and the gifts she bestowed upon us will continue to speak for her for generations to come.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, June 2nd, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3815 West Broadway.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 3rd, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Internment will immediately follow funeral services at Green Meadows Memorial Cemetery.
