July 3, 1937-December 5, 2020
Monterey/Hughson
Angelina Frances Souza, 83 years young, passed away on December 5th, 2020. Angie was born in Los Banos, California on July 3rd, 1937 to John and Lena Souza. She was the youngest of five siblings. She attended Los Banos High School, where at the age of 17, she met and married John A. Miranda. During their 10 years of marriage they added to their family with two daughters, Kimberly and Tina. After Angie and her daughters left Los Banos they eventually settled in Modesto where she worked at Monaco's for 14 years. Around 1984 Angie moved to Monterey where she soon became a very well known and loved bartender at Gianni's Pizza. It was here that she made many lifelong friends. In 2018 she moved to Hughson to be closer to family where her granddaughter Jenny and son-in-law Jay graciously provided her with a studio apartment where she was well cared for.
Angie was spunky, funny, the life of any party and never, ever stopped talking. She loved the ocean, fishing, going to the casinos and her two cats. She treasured her weekly card games with her girlfriends and attending service at Sovereign Grace Church. Her absolute favorite pastime though was spending time with her family. She was the most loved mom, Nani and Visa Nani and will be forever missed.
She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-laws, Kimberly and Joe Hendrex and Tina Miranda and Joe Kitchell; 8 grandchildren, Kevin (Jessica), Shandea (Kasey), Jenny (Jason), Joe (Ashley), Courtney (Grant), Caitlin (Robert), Wyatt, Kylie (Ryan); and 15 great-grandchildren, Coleman, Abigail, Kaden, Rylinn, Finley, Presley, Morgan, Harley, Tatum, Cash, Brody, Griffin, Adeline, Athena and Jaxton. She is also survived by her "sissy" Josephine Pereira, sister-in-laws, Patti and Susan Souza, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, John and Ed Souza, sister Madeline Pereira, brother-in-laws, Joe and Tony Pereira, and her precious great-grandson Morgan Thornsberry.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 16th at 11:00 am at Lakewood Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, CA. 95326

I will always remember the friendliness of Angie at Monaco's. Those were good times. I send my sincere sympathy to all of her family at this tender time.

Sending my sincere condolences to my cousins, Aunt Angie’s daughters, Kimberly and Tina and their beautiful loving family.

Though words can do little comfort to our family and friends, may prayers to all who loved Aunt Angie help support everyone at this difficult time along with God’s help and guidance.

I will always remember how much fun my Aunt Angie and I had together while living on the Monterey Peninsula and Our crazy adventures these pass thirty-three years.

Angie was a beautifuI person. She attracted people by her friendliness and charm. My girlfriend and I were in our early twenties at the time we met her, and we made it a point to go to Gianni's at least a couple of times a week. Of course, we went there primarily to visit with Angie; she always kept an eye on our pizza, to make sure we didn't have to wait too long. (And, by the way, we met her there in 1980.) We thoroughly enjoyed her company. She treated everyone like family. Even at the busiest of times, she never missed a beat and always made you feel special. Her intimate friends and family were lucky to have her in their lives. Usually I don't take the time to do this, but Angie was special!

Always great to see her at Gianni's! She would always remember what we wanted to drink and served it with her no nonsense style. She had a heart of Gold! We looked forward to seeing her every time we went in. RIP
