Angelo J. Catenza, 44, of Manchester, died unexpectedly on September 1, 2018 in Franconia Notch State Park. He was born in Milford, Massachusetts on May 8, 1974, the son of Gregorio and Catalina (Codina) Catenza. He was a 1992 graduate of Boston College High School. Angelo worked his way up from busboy to chef in his 15 years working in restaurants in the Boston area. He was the Executive Chef of Papa Razzi Trattoria in Boston's Back Bay for five years, before moving to New Hampshire in 2006. In 2007, he left the restaurant business for a position working in sales administration for M.S. Walker in Massachusetts. Angelo's biggest passion was watching his beloved boys play sports. He also enjoyed coaching their flag football, soccer, and baseball teams. He loved to golf, cook for his family and friends, and had developed a burgeoning love for the White Mountains. Above all, he will be remembered as a caring and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Family includes his wife of 13 years, Beth Gatherum Catenza and their two sons, Trey and Wes Catenza, all of Manchester; his parents, Gregorio and Catalina Catenza of Lewes, DE; four sisters, Mellissa Catenza and husband Dennis of Concord, M. Sheila Catenza of Brookline, MA, M. Cristina Oliver and husband Michael of Fairfax, VA, and Camille Catenza and husband Ben of Washington, DC; two brothers, Nicolo Catenza and wife Andrea of Collegeville, PA, and John Paul Catenza and wife Kate of Boston, MA; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one nephew. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Ste. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave., Manchester. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester. A fund in Angelo's memory has been established at the Smyth Road School for the purpose of maintaining and improving the school's basketball courts. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the fund; checks should be made payable to Smyth Road School and can be mailed to the school at 245 Bruce Rd., Manchester, NH 03104 with the notation "Catenza Basketball Court Fund" on the memo line.

To the Catenza family, I am saddened to hear of Angelo's passing. I have not been in the industry for a little over a year. However for many years I worked closely with Angelo as a MS Walker supplier. Angelo was always there to help me and was always a happy and kind soul. We both liked to chat about sports and golf in particular. I'm sorry that we never got the chance to play together. Angelo will certainly be missed by many and I will be sure to keep him in my prayers.
