Nashville - Joan H. Vollmer, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2019. Preceded in death by her husband, Myles L. Vollmer. Survived by daughter Joan Vollmer Stevenson (Art), sons Myles (Satch) E. Vollmer (Carleen), Thomas A. Vollmer (Ruth); grandchildren Blair Berty (Tim), Britney Darby (Fitz), Austin Leatherbury (Tom), Sarah Stewart Heath (Connor), Darcy & David Kelley, and 4 great granddaughters.

A lifelong Episcopalian, she was a member of Church of the Advent and she also volunteered at the This & That Shop in Nashville. She was an active member of The Woman's Club of Nashville where she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Joan was a graduate of Ward Belmont and Vanderbilt University and retired from the State of Tennessee where she was the Deputy Commissioner of Personnel under Gov. Dunn. She was the past president of the Association for the Preservation of Antiquities for the state of TN and was also the past president of the Belle Meade Plantation. Being an avid reader, she volunteered at the Metro Nashville Public Schools reading to elementary classes and loved tending to her many rose bushes in her yard.

A memorial service will be held at Church of the Advent, 5501 Franklin Pike on Wed Oct 23rd at 11:00 AM. Visitation starting at 10:00 AM. A celebration of life reception will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Luke's Community House, 5601 New York Ave, Nashville 37209.
