Dear Grandma,
I meant to write in this a year ago when you had actually passed away, but i just didn't. Now that Ive been thinking about you a lot lately, i want to try again. I miss you so much. There are times when i find myself confronted with situations and i long for your advice and your comfort. There are things that i could only speak to you about and things that i really want to show you. I remember showing and telling you about some of the things girls are wearing these days and seeing your reaction as you told me how girls used to dress. Its especially little moments like this that i miss the most. I loved going into your room just to talk and to spend time with you and Grandpa. Seeing how you interacted with each other and the way Grandpa would tease you were some of the highlights of my entire life; times i will never forget.I wish you could see me now and guide me throughout my high school years. But, i know that youre in a better place and that now you have grandpa with you. Last year, you passed away the day after Thanksgiving and i remember spending all of Thanksgiving with you. I was extremely blessed to spend that last day with you. This year, memories of the last have begun to pop up; especially today. Its Thanksgiving today. Its my first Thanksgiving without both you and Grandpa. I miss you both so much. You were the reason i am who i am today and that i love what i love. The impact youve had on my life is amazing and i miss you. Love you Grandma.
Your Granddaughter,
Sara

Dearest Mom, It was so nice to spend some time with you, dad, and Susie in July. I know you enjoyed the Maui Chips, and cookies of course you can't leave out those chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Steve Jr., Jaime, and Rayne also enjoyed spending time with you, I hope you enjoyed Rayne and Jaime's song they sang for you. Noelani and Michelle were also happy to spend time with you and share their experiences in Europe. Our stay was short and you asked me If was coming for Thanksgiving, I said yes and you said good I'll see you then and you did. Mom thank you for waiting you kept your word and I kept mine, Mom you were always a great mother, you always cared for us when we were sick, you gave us advise, words of wisdom, and kept us on the right track. I thank you and love you for all you have done for us and I will always cherish your memories and those beautiful green eyes. Mom you have gone to be with the Lord and you couldn't be in better hands, until we meet again.
Aloha,
With ALL MY LOVE, your son,
Stephen

Dearest Raymond, Marta, Sarita, Rebeca, Señor Castro, Suzy, Stella, Rami, Steve, Jacob and the entire Castro family...There aren't any words that can truly express everything I feel. Just know that I will always remember Mrs. Castro with: her infectious laughter, how she made me feel welcomed by the way she expressed her joy when I walked in the room for a visit, (It was like a welcoming party in the tone of her voice), how she could hold a conversation about any topic and we could talk for hours, the way she took me into the family and had such a loving way, the taquitos she would send with Raymond to Pitzer so we could have some home cooking, the way she shared her history with Mr. Castro with that twinkle in her eye, the way she said, "Timo" in only the way she could, the many days and nights of my youth where she offered me a home away from home and we would reminisce about the food and culture of New Mexico and cook together, the way she loved her children and grandchildren and the pride I heard in her voice when she would talk about them, and the list goes on and on. She was a bright light in my life and when I think about her, I smile. Not just a little smile, but a huge, ear to ear smile because all the wonderful memories come rushing back. She will be a bright light in my heart forever and my life is much richer because our paths crossed. What a blessing to all of us who knew her. My prayer for your family is that her kindness, laughter and loving nature will fill your grieving hearts with memories that will sustain you during these difficult days. The one thing I have learned in this lifetime is that love never, ever dies. Que la luz perpetua ilumine su camino y que brille para siempre la luz eterna y que descanse en paz. God bless you all. With love, Timothea
