Anita Moore Doyle

Anita Moore Doyle UPPER Anita Moore Doyle, 89, was born February 14, 1936, in Fort Worth, Texas, and died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, in Houston, Texas on November 5, 2025.

Anita grew up in Galveston, where she attended Trinity Episcopal Church and began high school at Ball High School before graduating from Stuart Hall School in Staunton, Virginia in 1953. She attended the Rice Institute of Technology and the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied child psychology and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. In 1955, Anita married her high school love, Lamar Doyle. They lived in Austin and briefly in Virginia while Lamar served in the Army, then returned to Houston to raise their five children. Anita was a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church. Anita and Lamar were members of Lakeside Country Club, and The Galveston Artillery Club, and charter members of The Knights of Momus. Anita was foremost a loving mother, grandmother, sister, spouse, and friend but she also was a real estate broker and was active in the oil and gas business. Through the Junior League of Houston and her own efforts, she supported many charitable causes, primarily mental health centers, museums, churches, and schools.

A lifelong learner and traveler, Anita took numerous courses at Rice University's continuing education program, the Women's Institute, and various other programs, often enriching her studies with travel abroad, focusing on archaeology, history, and arts. Anita had a special relationship with nature and instilled an appreciation for conservation in her progeny. She cherished her years at Camp Mystic in the Texas Hill Country and enjoyed her time at the family farm in Schulenburg, Texas. Anita treasured the Rocky Mountains, and woodsy hills dappled with lakes or streams. She was devoted to children and education, and she enjoyed reading, tennis, antiques, and collecting Turkish kilims, antique quilts, and other handcrafted items from her travels. Her collections were packed with culture, meaning, and stories she enjoyed sharing.

Anita is remembered for her generosity, kindness, and warmth. She loved holidays and gatherings focused on the joy of family and friends and always went out of the way to make them special. She cherished her friends and family deeply, always making time to connect with others. She and Lamar were married for 54 years until his passing in 2009. Since 2015, she shared a devoted companionship with lifelong friend George Sykes.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Charles H. Moore II and Anita Gardere Moore; her husband, William Lamar Doyle; and brothers, Charles H. Moore III, M.D. and Kilburn Moore. She is survived by her brothers and their spouses Paul and Jane Moore, and Bart and Sue Moore; her devoted companion, George Sykes; her children and their spouses, Doug and Sheryl Doyle, Dan Doyle, Brian and Susan Doyle, Rene and Mauri Pineda, and Anne and Larry Charpentier; daughter-in-law Pat Doyle; grandchildren and spouses Douglas & Gretchen Doyle, Caroline & John Herrin, Joseph & Josephine Doyle, William & Shelby Doyle, Bridget Doyle, Lamar Doyle, Charlie Doyle; Katherine Pineda, Andres & Lexy Pineda, Carlos Pineda; Drew Charpentier, Thomas & Morgan Charpentier, Jane Charpentier; great-grandchildren Key, Mary Margaret, Hutchings, and Peter Doyle.
