Anita Marie Olson Treinen My Mother, My Friend Anita Marie Olson Treinen passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at her home in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She had by her side holding her in their arms two of her daughters. Anita was born in Crookston, Minnesota, on February 28, 1919. She moved with her parents, Valerie and Bill Boerjan, to the Elrose area in Saskatchewan in 1920. She lived on the farm near Elrose with her parents and two sisters, Blanch and Vi. She attended school in Elrose and completed her teaching degree at Saskatoon Normal School, after which she taught in rural Saskatchewan for three years. She married Earl Olson in July 1942 and they started their life together in Victoriaville, Quebec where Earl was stationed while in the Canadian Air Force. Their eldest daughter was born there in 1943. In 1945 they moved home to Elrose, SK, where the remainder of their children was born. Anita lost her husband Earl in 1966. After his death she worked at the post office in Elrose, then as administrator of the Elrose Hospital until her retirement. Anita's parents and sister wintered in McAllen, Texas, so after Anita retired, she spent the winter there as well. She met her second husband, Claude Treinen of Remsen, Iowa and they were married in 1982. They lived in both the U.S. and Saskatchewan for the first years of their marriage and then moved to Saskatoon in 2003. Anita lost her husband Claude in 2007. Anita loved to read, curl, do puzzles, paint landscapes, play bridge and visit with her family. She was a member of the Catholic Women's League and the Canadian Legion for over 60 years. She also sang in the Elrose Catholic Church Choir and played saxophone in the Elrose Legion Band. Anita was greatly loved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, stepchildren and step grandchildren and everybody she knew. She made many friends at Caleb Manor, where she and Claude lived for the last two years, and she had many loyal caregivers at the Renal Unit at St. Paul's Hospital. Anita is survived by her children, Elaine Hanna of Elrose, SK, Julianne Ordog of Delisle, SK, Patricia Olson Bachand of Calgary, AB, Murray Olson (Shirley) of Saskatoon, SK, twins, Adrienne Wendt of Saskatoon, SK and Evan Olson (Sherry) of Calgary, AB, and Cheryl Harper (Larry) of Kyle, SK; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Jan Jenson, Claudette Brower (Randy), Linda Bauler (Jeff), Lisa Treinen, Tim Treinen (Terry) and Terry Treinen (Terry), all from the United States. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Val Boerjan; her two sisters, Blanche McCallum and Vi MacDonald; her son-in-law, Francis Ordog; and her stepdaughter, Nancy Treinen. Funeral Prayers will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Clements Funeral Chapel in Rosetown at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Elrose, SK on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father Rheal Bussiere as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Elrose Cemetery. Anita's family would like to extend their gratitude to Kevin Kuehn of Shuttle Radio Cab, who made sure Anita reached St. Paul's for her dialysis treatments for five years, thanks are also extended to Dale Stalwick of Caleb Manor, who made sure Anita safely reached her home after her treatments they were both very kind to her. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the great doctors and nurses at the Renal Unit and Internal Medicine on the 6th floor at St. Paul's Hospital, who took such good care of our Mom, and the staff at Caleb Manor who were very considerate of Mom during the three years she lived there. Memorial Donations for Anita may be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society. Clements Rosetown Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.

I was so sorry to learn of Aunt Anita's death. I remember her as always having a smile foer everyone and taking life as it came. You and your family are in my prayers.
