Ann Fluger Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 17, 2024.
Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Ann Marie Fluger passed peacefully on December 10, 2024.

Daughter of Emil Fluger and Gertrude (nee Fried), Ann was raised in the Bronx (Rochambeau Avenue). She was an avid camper at Camp Nokomis and moved on from Hunter High to Elmira College. She transferred to NYU and completed a BA in mathematics.

Mother to 5 children, grandmother to 6 and great grandmother to two, Ann was an avid swimmer, an accomplished artist, a passionate bowler, a beach lover, and a devoted friend.

As a stay-at-home mother, she cooked numberless meals. When the last child left for college, she declared an end to cooking and used her oven as a convenient place to store old magazines. Later in her life, she became a foodie, enjoying the variety of cuisines available in New York City with a special focus on pad thai and sushi.

Ann was preceded in death by her son Bill. She is survived by her children David (Julita), Karel, Jim (Carol), Mark (Jennie); her grand-children Kelly (Kenny), William, Ellie, Eli, Sandy, Emily; her great-grand-children Maddie and Liv; and her sister Esther (Walter).

Gratitude is sent to Ms. Mazell Perry for her loving care for the past years of Ann, the New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Center on Aging, and VNS Hospice. A celebration of life will be held in the early Spring of 2025 with friends and family gathered to honor and remember this remarkable woman.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Sharp Again, a nonprofit dedicated to the eradication of dementia.
