Ann Hundley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 17, 2024.
In solemn remembrance, we announce the passing of Ann Margit Hundley, (Christianson), aged 81, on July 13, 2024, in Wichita KS. Born December 28th 1942, in the peaceful town of Stoughton, Wisconsin, Ann embodied the virtues of elegance, kindness, and warmth throughout her life. Ann and her family moved to Kansas when she was in high school and soon after she met the love of her life, Harry. She and Harry married in 1959 and made a wonderful life with a family that began right way and continued to grow to 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grand children.

Ann's hands painted the canvas of her life with the softest of strokes, was a master of the hearth and home, whose vision transformed mundane spaces into tapestries of warmth and grace. Ann led a fulfilling career as a homemaker, interior designer, and docent at a Frank Lloyd Wright home in Wichita, Kansas, sharing her enthusiasm for design and architecture with visitors from around the world.

More than anything, Ann treasured the moments spent with her loved ones, fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere that drew friends and family close with the intoxicating scents of apple pie, spaghetti, brownies and a glass of wine. Ann lived life to its fullest with an active social life with friends. She was involved in a wine club, bunko group, ballroom dance group, book club and many other social organizations over the years. She loved to go to movies with the girls, hunt antiques, and just chat and drink wine with friends. During her time raising her family, she embodied the most perfect example of what it is to be a homemaker. She loved to garden and cooked everything with love and totally from scratch. She always kept the most beautiful outdoor landscaping and flower gardens and you could always count on fresh bouquets of flowers in her home all year long. Ann had such an amazing style that was unique to her. Her home was so incredibly welcoming, always decorated so stunning and always ready for company even in a moment's notice.

Ann is now reunited with her husband, Harry Phillip Hundley; her parents, Conrad and Lysle Christianson; her brother, Skip Christianson; her cherished son, Tim Hundley and her long-time best friend Barb.

Ann's memory will be carried forward by her surviving family: her brother, Joel Christianson (Jeanette Christianson); her children, Margit Stritzel, Jeff Hundley (Paula Skorch), Matt Hundley and Sarah Nivison (Alex Nivison); her grandchildren Amanda Meyer (Court Meyer), Chris Hundley (CleoAnne Hundley), Kelsie Lane (Curtiss Lane), Haley Stritzel, Joe Nivison (Briley Funston-Mullins), Jack Nivison, her great-grandchildren Jason Meyer, Jamiee Meyer, Bria Meyer, Annamarie Meyer, Hundley, Isabel Hundley, Bennett Lane, Stetson Nivison and Laylana Peach; and her sweet dog and faithful companion, Ellie. Each will recall her kindness, her grace, and her unwavering love.

In lieu of flowers, raise a glass of your finest, or plant something lovely and think of Ann. Her legacy is like a well-placed throw pillow-just the right touch to remind us all how beautiful life can be.

Memorial donations may be made to Faith Home Health and Hospice, 709 E. 21st St. N. Ste. 200, Wichita, KS 67206.

A graveside service will take place for Ann on Friday, August. 16th, 2024 at Tannehill Cemetery located at 2273 31st Rd. Winfield, KS at 11:00am.

I always looked forward to visiting with Uncle Harry and Aunt Ann. We kids always seemed to get into some kind of trouble, but Ann was always understanding. Margit, Jeff, Matt and Sarah, I am so sorry for your loss. God be with you.
