ANN LUBAS Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 11 to Dec. 12, 2013.
LUBAS
ANN (BEDNAR)
Of McKees Rocks, gently passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013 after a long illness, surrounded by the love of her family. Beloved wife of the late Joseph "Smokey Joe" Lubas; loving mother of Joseph and his wife Mary Ann, Gene and his partner Jerry, Nancy and her husband Jeno and Lisa and her husband George. She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Anastasia; one sister and four brothers. "Babie" as she was affectionately known, was a devout member of the Holy Ghost Byzantine Church where she was a part of the pyrohy making team for over 50 years. "Babie" was an amazing mother, and with her extended family, she was a loving grandmother of nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who taught her family to love life and be thankful for all of God's wonderful gifts. This was displayed in her affection, generosity and love of travel. Through her adult life, Ann enjoyed visiting the United States (including Hawaii), many countries in Europe, the Caribbean Islands and Australia. Ann lived an outstanding life because she treasured the relationships she developed with her family and friends in the course of her 89 years and the lives she touched in her daily routine. She will be dearly missed but the lessons she taught and the love of her family she carried in her heart will endure for years to come. May God grant her eternal memory. Friends are welcome Wednesday 6-8, Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the VALERIAN F. SZAL FUNERAL HOME, 238 Helen Street, McKees Rocks. Parastas Thursday 7 p.m. Funeral 9:30 a.m. followed by a litury of Christian Burial in Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church 10 a.m.

Was extremely saddened that I never had the opportunity to visit with AUNT ANN and have missed the opportunity to do so. I will keep her in my prayers and am sure we'll visit another time and place.

Sending my deepest sympathies to your whole family and wishing you peace at this sad time. Your mom was always so kind and cheery, and she was a wonderful cook, too! She'll be missed.

Dear Mrs. Lubas,
I wanted to write a note to express my love and admiration for you throughout my life. Of course, knowing that you are now in the grace and presence of God is comforting. The times that I spent with you and your family will forever be a happy memory in my heart.

I think about the days when I was just a little girl running around your house. I always felt welcomed and loved by you and enjoyed every minute of silliness that seemed to be the permanent mood at the Lubas haus. I giggle when I think about how often I heard you say “You kids are crazy!!” as we continued to do whatever it was we were doing.

I always admired your talents as an artist. You could make just about anything more beautiful - whether it was a wreath, a birthday cake, or a pair of flip flops!! I knew it was made with love and care. It had that extra something special that only you could create.

And need I mention your delicious cooking? I can't even begin to tell you how much I looked forward to an invitation to eat dinner (or any meal) dahn ‘na Rocks. Heck, I have so many fond memories of Christmas and any old time spent with the Lubas family. You were always right there in the living room taking it all in….with a big smile on your face.

Lastly, you raised four great kids whose love for you was never ending. How lucky to be a mom surrounded by children who showered you with love and support throughout your entire life. As a single parent, you were able to do it all….. I don't know anyone else who could have juggled as much as you did with such grace and ease.

I have said on many occasions, I want to be just like Mrs. Lubas when I grow up. You were never afraid to travel and experience the world at an age when most were content to stay at home. I hope to have that kind of spirit and adventure when I am in my “golden years”.

God Bless you Mrs. Lubas. I will miss seeing you and will think of you often. I am so grateful to you and your family for making my life so wonderful…. So many memories filled with laughter, love, fun, and good food. What else could a girl ask for? I am blessed to have known you.

Love and peace,

Naomi Yeskey

PS - Please let Miriam and my mom know that I miss them dearly. I know I will see them again someday. I pray for their continued guidance here on earth.
Give a BIG kiss to Buttons, Winston, Toby, and Honeygirl for me too!
