Ann Mott Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 20 to Apr. 21, 2023.
Ann Emerson Mott died peacefully and suddenly after suffering a stroke on March 30, 2023 at her home in Naples, Florida, with her Husband by her side. Ann was 72 years old.

She was predeceased by her parents - Lindy and Ruth Emerson and her brother Robert "Bobby" Emerson.

She is survived by her Husband, Gregory J. Mott; her brother Alan, her daughter Laurie; her son Ryan Mott; daughter-in-law Katie Mott and two grandchildren - Lucy and Benjamin.

Ann graduated from Pittsford High School and MCC. She spent many years working for her Father as a bookkeeper at Victor Auto Parts, Inc.

Ann loved tennis. She worked hard at it and eventually became a USPTA Certified Teaching Pro, then went on to teach as a tennis instructor at Midtown Athletic Club.

Ann was involved in World Team Tennis. She represented USTA Eastern District for many years.

Ann coached tennis at McQuaid High School and Brighton High School.

Ann was also an accomplished pianist.

Ann was an active member of the Rochester Chapter of the Junior League of America.

Ann was the Director of Member Services at the Tennis Club of Rochester for many years.

Ann was always playing tennis in multiple leagues at the Tennis Club of Rochester and her second home in Naples, Florida: Lely Resort. Oftentimes, it was Ann who set up the tennis schedules.

Ann and her husband Greg had Condominium in Newport, RI, for many years. Of course, Ann joined The International Hall of Fame Tennis Club.

Then Ann decided to take up golf. Ann was non-stop.

Ann loved everyone, especially her family, friends, and teammates. She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.

Ann was beautiful inside and out. Wherever she went, she lit up the room, the party, the tennis court, the golf course.

I was utterly shocked and very saddened when I learned today via the Pittsford Sutherland alumni page that Ann had passed away. I had not seen her very much though the years (except running into her in the airport) but we kept in touch mainly thorough our holiday letters, and I always looked forward to her Christmas letter.

Ann was one of my best friends in high school and we got together during vacations after that. We shared many coming-of-age adventures and I count her as a memorable, important part of that time in our lives.

I will remember all of the good times we shared and she will always be in my thoughts. I know how she loved her family and how they will miss her. Deepest sympathies to them.

We are very sad to hear about Ann´s unexpected passing. Our families´ friendship goes back to Turin Tennis Club, when our children were learning to swim and we were enjoying tennis; remembering all the fun parties and club tournaments. Then the GOOSE Club, our off-season social events from volleyball to Road Rallies to Scavenger Hunts!!! Weddings for numerous children - always a good time! And, of course, our annual reunions in Florida - from Naples to Sarasota and sometimes in-between! We have wonderful memories of Ann and her family and hope that they know how much she will be missed by all of us. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to all the family.
