Ann Peck Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 10, 2025.
Palm City - Ann Peck passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, at the age of 95. She was born on October 10, 1929, in Pickens County, S.C. The daughter of Frank and Addie Oliver, Ann spent her early years in her hometown of Walhalla, S.C. as part of a large, busy family consisting of 10 brothers and sisters.

In 1948, she and her much loved older sister, Edith, moved to Clearwater, Florida where she met the love of her life, Alden Peck. Alden was from Connecticut and had just been discharged from the Marine Corps. Ann married "Al", and Edith married Al's best friend, Paul. The two couples returned to Connecticut to begin their lives together. There followed many years of happiness amongst family and friends while Ann and Al raised their two sons in the shoreline town of Guilford. Those were cherished years for Ann.

In 1971, with their sons grown, Ann and Al followed their dream of returning to Florida to live on the water. They settled on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River in Palm City's Seagate Harbor, Palm City. In Seagate Harbor, they again made wonderful memories boating with friends, fishing, and traveling in their RV. Ann loved the fact that her sons were raising their families nearby. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her happiness.

Ann was known to be a strong-willed, common-sense person with true grit and a very astute sense of humor. Throughout her years, she stayed current with the news of the day and was a joy to converse with on any number of topics even at the age of 95. In her later years, Ann would enjoy crocheting Afghan throws and scarves for family and friends, but her superpower was her cooking. She was truly an exceptional cook. Her sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren were always so grateful when she would have the family over for a home cooked meal on the river or send "care packages" of her delicious meals to their homes.

The family will always cherish those wonderful memories of carving pumpkins, hunting for Easter eggs, gardening, fishing off the dock, and boating with Ann and Al. Ann led a full and purposeful life filled with love for Al, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and Al were a remarkable team for their 75 years together and they will be missed by all who knew them.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Al, and her cherished grandson, David Peck. She is survived by her sons, Alden, Jr. and wife Jane of Palm City, and Kevin and wife Lorrie of Roseville, CA; granddaughter Rachel Sabo and husband Michael Sabo and great grandchildren Benjamin and Hadley Sabo of Mooresville, NC; granddaughter Kelly Booth and husband Justin Booth and great grandchildren Brooklyn and Bryce Booth of Loomis, CA. Ann is also survived by her loving brother Clark Oliver of Walhalla, SC, who she so very much appreciated staying in touch with over the years. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, most of all her beloved nieces Linda, Gail, Marlene, Carol and nephew Paul.

The Peck family would like to give special thanks to all the wonderful doctors, nurses and health care givers through the years that helped Ann and Al live long, full and happy lives. We are especially thankful to Debbie, Nancy, Angie and the VNA for their love and support. Also, we are especially grateful to physicians Dr. Devang Patel, Dr. Kari Clark, and Dr. Valerie Rasberry and others that guided them through the challenges of growing old. We know that Ann and Al were forever grateful for their help and guidance.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to Hospice.
