ANN SINGAL

SINGAL, Ann (Rosenthal) Age 81, of Westwood MA, died after a brave battle with ovarian cancer on April 6, 2021. Born in Brookline MA to Blanche Agoos Rosenthal and Richard Rosenthal, Ann was a lifelong advocate for education. She was an elementary school teacher before co-founding the cutting-edge summer enrichment program The Exploration School ("Explo") with her husband, the late Arnold Singal in 1976. Exploration focused on getting students excited about learning, and immersed them in creative activities and mind-bending discussions that opened their eyes to new ideas. Ann was also a lover of dogs, admirer of the opera and ballet, cultivator of bonsai trees, avid cyclist and walker, reader of tomes, world traveler, baker, and collector. Most of all, Ann loved her family. She leaves behind her son Jeff Singal, daughter-in-law Miki, granddaughters Mia and Julia, of Nagoya, Japan; daughter Robbie Singal, son-in-law Jonathan Weintraub, grandson Ezra and granddaughter Raya, of Brookline, MA; twin sister Joan Bruck, formerly of Bedford, MA, and nieces and a nephew who loved her deeply.
