I (her husband) am writing as if Ann is telling her own story:
I was born in Fort Worth,Texas on February 27, 1939 to Sam and Totsy Kinch. I grew up in Austin and graduated from the University of Texas with A BS in Education. I taught elementary school in Houston, Germany and Virginia for 13 years before trying my hand in cosmetic sales.
In 1975 I met the love of my life, Jack Walden and his 4 year old daughter, Morgan, although I was a stepmother I felt Morgan was the child I never had. We three were married February, 12 1983 In 1989 I went back into the classroom for another 10 years in Special Education, retiring in 1999. I loved water aerobics, playing bridge, reading and solving Sudoku puzzles. My passion was being involved in Covenant Presbyterian Church’s outreach programs, especially working with the homeless at Austin St Shelter.
I was raised in a loving family and was devoted to them, especially my baby brother Sam. Sam and Lilas raised 3 children (Keary, Sean, and Ashby) of whom I claimed part ownership. Too ready to share pictures if given an opportunity, I’d gladly share the latest accomplishments of the 4 young adults and any of their 6 children (Amani, Helen, Shelby, Griffin, Samuel, and Katherine).
Friends were important to me. “Make new friends but keep the old: one is silver the other is gold” is a motto I took to heart. I kept in touch with some for 40-60 years and loved getting together to reminisce about the good old days. If I could combine bridge with friends I was really happy.
Now, I (her husband) would like to share a few of my own thoughts:
Ann made me a better man through being with her and I will never forget her. Being without her is harder than I ever imagined. Being with her for almost 34 years was one of the greatest events in my life. We shared many happy years together. Ann, I love you.

Loved and cherished this special lady and dear friend. She was the glue that kept so many McCallum High School friends in touch with each other. She will be greatly missed. Heaven is enriched by her presence.

Ann added much to life for so many, truly a great addition to our world. She was so instrumental in my family's well being and created so many joyful experiences for all of us. She lived an outstanding example for all who knew her.

In 2014, Ann became a grandmother, a role she was born to play. She loved her grandson, Joseph, with all her heart and took great pride in his every milestone. Losing Ann is hard on those of us that were lucky enough to know her and be loved by her. Joseph will never really understand just what he lost when he lost his Nannie.
