WINTERPORT - Anna "Nancy" Bickford, 76, died peacefully in her sleep March 19, 2010, at Orono Commons. She was born Aug. 18, 1933, in Waltham, Mass., the daughter of Gordon and Esther Bates. Nancy attended Tufts University and spent her professional career as a geriatric occupational therapist at McLean Hospital, Belmont, Mass., and Augusta Mental Health Institute. Nancy was an active volunteer at Fields Pond Center and head start in Winterport. She loved spending time with her family, watching movies, basket weaving, stenciling and playing practical jokes on her family. Nancy is survived by her three sons, William and John "Jay" Bickford of Winterport and Thomas Bickford of Orono. She is also survived by her sisters, Molly Duplisea-Palmer of Stetson and Sally Gilman of Weston, Mass.; by her cousin, Margaret Burckes of Haverhill, Mass.; her daughter-in-law, Laurie Bickford; and seven grandchildren. Nancy will be remembered 1:30 p.m. April 10 at Fields Pond Audubon Center, Holden. Bring your memories and your photos to share. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name at www.maineaudubon.org.

So sorry to read of Nancy's passing. I knew Nancy while she was undergoing treatment. We developed a bond and shared many laughs together. Rest in peace Nancy
