Mrs. Anna Maria (DErrico) DiNocco, 91, of Melrose, dear wife of the late Donato Danny DiNocco, died Monday evening, January 4th, 2016. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Savino and Annantonia (DiPaolo) DErrico. She was raised and educated in East Boston and attended East Boston High School. As a young woman, Anna was active with the Mt. Carmel Church Band as the Drum Majorette. She would meet her future husband, Donato, a trombone player in the band. This young love would stand the test of time for over 70 years as they married a few years later, upon his return from World War II. They would share a lifetime together filled with love and affection. She was lovingly called Jelly Bean by her Donato, because she was sweet as sugar and he would take her finger to stir his coffee to sweeten it up. Together they were one. Their love and dedication to each other is a symbol that will last forever as they are complete once again in heaven. A woman dedicated to her family, Anna was an inspiration. Her devotion to her family only came second to her devotion to the Lord. She started each day by reading a bible passage and would often recite the rosary. She was a long time member of the prayer group at St. Francis Church in Medford. Her commitment to family and faith is the lasting hallmark her grandchildren will remember. She was everything you could ask for in a mother and she shared her caring spirit with others around her. Her friends, neighbors and wounded soldiers at the Soldiers Home in Chelsea would often find Anna lending them a helping hand in their time of need. As the wife of a veteran, Anna attended many reunions of the 29th Infantry Division throughout the years. She volunteered her caring spirit with the Disabled American Veterans and at the Chelsea Soldiers Home. Over the years, Anna & Danny made many friends far and wide especially through the VA network in Jamaica Plain. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Annas family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Sally Vanerian and staff for all the love and care they provided to Anna over the years. They are truly grateful. Anna is survived by her children, Daniel DiNocco and his wife Elise of Wakefield; Dennis DiNocco and his wife Lisa of Ipswich; Robert DiNocco and his wife Lisa of New Hampshire; Donna Gibbs and her husband Robert of Peabody; and Ann Molk and her husband Stuart of Danvers; Her grandchildren, Mark, Michael, Alicia, Alexander, Christopher, Rene, Isabelle, Daniel, Annmarie, Rebecca, Amy, Cara and Michael, several great grandchildren, her brother, Domenic DErrico of Peabody and many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. She was the sister of the late Vincenza, Louisa, Josephine and Savino. Her funeral services were held. With a burial next to her husband in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Annas memory to the Chelsea Soldiers Home, 91 Crest Ave., Chelsea, Ma 02150. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (Rte 62) Danvers. Very sad to hear of Anna's passing. She was a wonderful lady... Always fun! I was fortunate to get to know Anna at Putnam Farms where my mother also lived. I always looked forward to seeing her there. She will be missed.
