Anna Galarza

Anna Galarza (née Mantilla), age 69, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Born on March 26, 1956, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Anna brought warmth and joy to every chapter of her life.

For over two decades, Anna worked as a professional hairdresser-a career that was much more than a job. Her salon chair became a place of laughter, comfort, and connection. Clients were drawn not only to her skill but also to her contagious laugh, warm smile, and engaging personality. Many became lifelong friends, touched by the genuine care she extended to everyone she met.

Outside of work, Anna embraced life with vibrant enthusiasm. She found peace and inspiration by the ocean, joy in dancing to her favorite music, and excitement in playing bingo. Yet above all else, her heart belonged to her family. Time spent with loved ones was her greatest treasure.

Anna leaves behind a cherished family who will carry forward her memory with love: her mother, Santa Matias; brothers Felipe and Victor; sister Olga Iris Matias; children Ruby, Iasha, Leonardo, and Jordan; and grandchildren Luis, Noah, Dominic, and Luciana. She is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whose lives she touched deeply.

A service to honor Anna's life will be held on Wednesday, July 16th at the Resurrection of Our Lord Church (2000 Shelmire Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19152). The welcoming of family and friends will be from 9:30 am to 10:00 am, for a time of gathering and remembrance. A funeral mass will follow from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Afterwards, a luncheon will be hosted at Maggie's on the Waterfront from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm (9242 N Delaware Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19114).

Anna's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her-through every shared laugh, every cherished memory by the sea, and every moment spent together as family. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who loved her.
