O'BRIEN, ANNA 'ANN' (BARBER), 97, died peacefully at Cortland Place in Greenville on Wednesday, April 15. She was the wife of the late James Patrick O'Brien, longtime news reporter and manager of the Cranston office for the Providence Journal.

Ann, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Connors) Barber, grew up in Kingston. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island, and taught elementary school in Peace Dale for several years. After their marriage, she and Jim moved to Cranston where she lived until the age of 91. She was a homemaker, enjoyed bowling and was very active in her church and garden club.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Bogutt and son-in-law, Peter, of North Attleboro, two grandchildren, Michael Bogutt and his wife Jennifer of Richmond and Andrea Penta and her husband Patrick of East Providence and 2 great-grandchildren, Sean Conners and Mary Penta.

Her funeral will be held Monday at 9:30 from The Butterfield Chapel, 500 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston at 10am. Burial will be in St Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
