My condolences to Ann's family. She always welcomed me into her home for visits when I lived in Aniak in the mid-1980's, and we had many good conversations and laughter. I'm glad I had a chance to know her.

I am sending heart-felt condolences to the Vanderpool family. Ann's passing brings back fond memories of a wonderful generation she
belonged to. The generation who took good care of each other and were so much fun to be around. For many, many years Buster flew our dad Jimmy Walker around western Alaska (from the Y-K Delta to the Kotzebue area) signing up cannery workers for the Alaska Packer's Association in Bristol Bay. During those years we felt we "knew" Ann since we heard her on the HF radio every day. She always sounded calm. Her calm manner was reassuring when our dad Uncle Jerry and brother-in-law Kenny didn't return from a trip up to the Mud River . Nine days later Buster flew them safely back to Shageluk. Over the years I only saw her twice in person. I will cherish the connection of our families and marvel at what a big part she played in so many lives.

Craig, what a beautiful grandmother you have. Just meeting her a few times was enough to see that she is a wonderful and a caring person. For now and for little while, she might not be on the road your walking, but someday soon you and your grandmother's paths will meet again.
