SOUTH YARMOUTH — Anna Dorothy Driscoll York, of South Yarmouth and formerly of Charlestown, died Oct. 17, 2007, at the age of 89.

She was the beloved wife of David J. York.

Mrs. York was born in Boston and grew up in Roxbury. She lived many years in Charlestown before moving to South Yarmouth permanently in 1984. While living in Charlestown, she worked in Boston for The First National Bank of Boston, retiring in 1983.

In addition to being an avid reader, she loved gardening, and traveling. She was a communicant of St. Pius X Church in South Yarmouth.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children, Gina Engh of California, Patricia Grayson of Massachusetts, Steven Driscoll of South Carolina, David York of Ohio, and Margaret Smyth of New Hampshire; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, on Sunday, Oct. 21, from 2 to 5 p.m. A funeral will form from the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 22, at 9 a.m., with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Pius X Church, Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 12:30 p.m.

Contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Mom, I miss you very much, especially our morning talks on my way to work. You made the start of my the day much brighter. There have been many times this past year that I have started to pick up the phone and it's so lonely when I realize I can't. Love you Gina
