Mrs. Annabelle Grimes May, 68, of 1400 Pinewood Drive, Frederick, died Tuesday, August 3, at her home.

She was the wife of Harry W. May Jr. who died in 1988.

Born Feb. 12, 1931, in Walkersville, she was a daughter of the late Thomas C. and Eva K. Joy Grimes.

Mrs. May was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1067, Frederick, and the Jefferson Patriotic Club, Frederick.

Surviving are seven children, Grayson L. Rippeon Jr. and wife Lynn of Tennessee, Darlene A. Sier and husband Roy of North Carolina, Terry L. Rippeon and wife Kathy, Kathy L. Baugher and husband Martin, and Brenda L. Landis and husband John, all of Charles Town, W.Va., Michael W. Rippeon and wife Sue of Sharpsburg, and Cindy L. Kehne and husband Kevin of Frederick; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; five sisters, Peggy May and Bonnie May, both of Frederick, and Barbara Ann Whisman, Shirley Webb and Rosie Lamb, all of Gaithersburg; one brother, William Grimes of Brunswick; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. May will also be remembered by her long-time companion, Gene Goodsell of Frederick.

Mrs. May was preceded in death by her first spouse, Grayson Leroy Rippeon Sr. in 1998; three brothers, Kenneth Grimes, Thomas Grimes and Charles Grimes; and two sisters, Kathleen Ray and Evelyn Warfield.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, August 5, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 6, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Carroll A. Doggett officiating.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
