ANNE ROBERTS
Age 100, a Pittsburgher since birth, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at her home in Squirrel Hill. She was born on October 26, 1916, the first child of Daniel Roberts of Baltimore and Ursula Reilly Roberts of Pittsburgh. Two years later her father died from the Great Influenza and Anne was raised by strong women including her mother and her grandmother, Mrs. John C. Reilly, the widow of the successful entrepreneur and real estate investor, John C. Reilly. Mrs. Duff went to Winchester-Thurston School and then to college at Georgian Court in New Jersey. She returned to finish college at Mount Mercy School, now Carlow University. In the 1930's, she met John "Jack" Duff on the dance floor at a debutante party and thus began one of the great romances of the time until Jack died in 1991. Mrs. Duff is survived by her children, John, Daniel, and Deborah Booker; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her beauty and graciousness, her passion for her family and church and her wonderful warm sense of humor. Friends will be received JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Wednesday, Mass of Christian Burial, in Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. Memorial donations may be made in her name to Sacred Heart Church, 310 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.

From the photo and obituary, I can see that your mother was quite an erudite person. I would have liked to have known her. What a great long life.

I remember your mother and Judge Duff as long-time and lovely neighbors of Gladstone Road; remembering especially going out trick or treating as a youngster and how very welcoming and gratious they both were to all of us children. My sincere condolences to Debbie (and Dan) and the Duff Family.
