Anne FEDEYKO Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from Oct. 29 to Nov. 1, 2012.
ANNE FEDEYKO (PROCENTY)
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother at St. Paul's Hospital, Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the age of 89. Anne is survived by daughters, Mary Humen, Rose (Wayne) Mauthe, and Lesia (Orest) Soltykevych; grandchildren, Kim (Rob) King, Wendi (Sean) Spence, Kris (Shannon) Mauthe, Mark Mauthe, Derek (Kerri) Mauthe, Roman Soltykevych, Tamara Soltykevych, Cassian Soltykevych; great grandchildren, Matthew, Luke, Evva, Jazmyne, Taylor, Brayden, Nickel, Rachel, Marishka. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward in 1963; parents, Wasyl and Olena (nee Popowitch) Procenty; her sisters, Mary Small and Olga Balicki; and son in law, Bohdan Humen. Anne was born May 22, 1923 in Krydor, SK on her parents' homestead. She attended Uhrynow School in the Redberry Lake district. Anne married Edward Fedeyko in 1945. Together they farmed in the Redberry Lake area. They moved to Hafford when their children were in school in the 1950's. After her husband's passing, Anne opened her home as a boarding house, accommodating teachers, bankers, and RCMP personnel. In 1969, Anne moved to Saskatoon and began working in St. Paul's Hospital, retiring in 1988. In recent years, she resided at Ilarion residence where she enjoyed the company of many friends. The Ukrainian language and heritage were an important part of Anne's life. She was an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Krydor, Hafford and Saskatoon, and active with the UWAC branches Olha Kobylianska and Hanka Romanchych. She also served as secretary for the National UWAC. Anne loved to sing and participated in the Dibrova Folk Ensemble and Senior club. She always took pleasure in reading the Ukrainian Voice and Promin, especially the two years she devoted reading short stories and Ukrainian literature to the residents at Extendicare. Anne took great pride in her home, embroidery, sewing, garden and flowers. She was a very social person and spent many nights visiting and playing cards with her friends. Anne loved her family and took great joy in their achievements. She enjoyed her visits with them and looked forward to hearing what her grandchildren and great grandchildren were doing. All of her family will miss her critical constructive advice. The Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Park Funeral Chapel (311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon). The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of All Saints (2616 Louise Street, Saskatoon), officiated by Very Rev. Fr. Roman Kocur. Interment in Woodlawn Orthodox Cemetery will follow. Our special thanks to all of Anne's caregivers from Home Care, her friends at Ilarion Residence, and the doctors and nursing staff at SPH for their kindness, compassion and support. Memorial donations, in honour of Anne may be made to the Ukrainian Museum of Canada, Tree of Life Campaign, 910 Spadina Crescent East, Saskatoon, SK S7K 3H5.
