Spartanburg, SC- Anne C. Mathis, 89, loving wife to Frank Mathis, of 70 years this past May, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home after a long illness.
Born July 10, 1933, in Macon, Georgia, Anne was a daughter of the late Clifford and Laura Sauls Carroll.
A member of Morning Side Baptist Church, Anne enjoyed being a part of her church community and loved singing in the church choir. In the 80’s, she was part of the “Lunch Bunch” and Huntington Hills Ladies Golf Club. Everyone she met was a friend and she was loved by all.
Anne also loved her hobbies. From cross stitching and sewing to her weekly crossword puzzles, she had a passion for crafts and was eager to share them with everyone around her.
In her later years, her grandchildren became her ultimate joy and there was nothing more special to her than spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Frank, she is survived by daughter Laura Mathis Woodrum (Michael); her grandchildren, Stephanie Mathis Wilds, Lauren Woodrum Hollister (Ken) and Michael Andrew Woodrum II; as well as great grandchildren, Lela Morris and Joshua Hollister.
She was predeceased by her son Stephen F. Mathis, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 6th, 12:00PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
