Anne Miller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 15, 2024.
Anne Marie Miller, a proud "nearly native" Floridian, who embraced life with unwavering strength and love, passed away March 14, 2024 after a courageous almost three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 55 years old.

Born on August 27, 1968 in Wichita, Kansas at McConnell Air Force Base, Anne spent her entire life in Sarasota, Florida, the place she considered her true home. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and determination that earned her superhero status in the eyes of those who knew her.

Anne is survived by her devoted daughters and their husbands, Savanna and Brett Wagner and Vanessa and Dan Fanti, who were the center of her world and her reason for being. She was the beloved daughter of Bill and Claudia Storms, and a cherished sister to Billy Storms and his wife Melanie and aunt to their children William and Lilianna. Anne also leaves behind her treasured furbabies, Zoey and Daisy.

Anne's professional career was marked by dedication and excellence. She earned her Bachelor's degree in HR from the University of South Florida and embarked on a remarkable 32-year career at Sarasota County Emergency Management, where she retired as Logistics Chief after becoming ill. Her commitment to her work and community left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Anne pursued her passions with enthusiasm and commitment. She found great satisfaction in learning the discipline of Krav Maga, the adventure of paddleboarding, and the joy of bagpiping. Anne was relentless in her faith and dedicated to her church and their ministry. While her soul belonged to Christ, her heart on earth belonged to her family and most especially to her daughters.

A celebration of Anne's life will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 1:30 pm at Gulf Gate Church, 6501 Lockwood Ridge Road in Sarasota, where we will gather to honor her memory. The family will receive visitors in the Fellowship Hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Day4Hope would be deeply appreciated, reflecting Anne's generous spirit and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others. Anne Miller presented a smile at every opportunity. In a world dominated by men, she set her mark and earned people´s respect. Anne was one of the first non emergency manager directors, if not the first, to be the president of the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association. A group of professionals that work together to find successful solutions to the ever changing world, to collaborate towards success, and who strive to keep their communities safe from the ever present threats that assail them.

All honor due to a great professional.
